Double eyes and autumn.

You can already see autumn colors in Sibiu. Sibiu is known as the city with eyes. The gothic style buildings reflect the Hungarian-German influence and many carry a common feature in their heavy tiled roof top: small attic windows that appear as eyelids looking down upon you. Houses use them as a cooling system for their attics. Most of the “eyes” were built between the 15th and 19th centuries. In the tall houses there are normally two eyes, but some of them have three, four or even five eyes.

The lampost is an eye-catcher. The point of view is showing the details of the roof with the special design. The light is giving nice tints to the colors. Have a nice day.

Je ne puis m'empêcher de voir ces yeux mi-clos qui m'observent !
Une particularité architecturale de cette région, je suppose.

Czescto przy renowacji idzie sie na latwizne :(

Hello Piotr,
Another fine photo of these remarkable windows. But I can't see any camera in any of them. The colours are just as attractive as the design of the roof. The autumn coloured trees make a fine contrast to the pink building.

Hello Piotr, the attic windows represent a feature belonging to the Gothic style buildings existing in Sibiu. The yellowish autumn colors match well with the pink roof. Good image quality, excellent light, instructive photo note, regards.

there's something kind of creepy about these eyes haha
wow, i didn't realize these rooftops were so old, its surprising they're still functional. I also wonder if these types of windows on the rooftops endure a lot of leaking with the rainfall. anyways, fun post, fun views. cheers

I like the tight framing and the flattened perspective. There is nothing like this in Australia but I did see these eye windows outside Romania in some cities in Poland and Czech Republic. Tfs!
