Photographer's Note
It was the European cultural capital in 2007. The Old Town of Sibiu retains the grandeur of its time when regional trade was rich and powerful. Like Sighisoara and Brasov, it has a distinctly Germanic feel. In the city of Sibiu the medieval walls still protect the historical area, the narrow streets, passages and buildings from the 17th century.
For hundreds of years, this walled town in the heart of Transylvania was one of the most powerful and prosperous fortresses in Europe. Surrounded by imposing walls, Sibiu's original fortifications included 39 defensive towers, five bastions, four gates, and five artillery batteries. First mentioned in 1411 as a grain market, the Piata Mare (large square), the largest square in the city, has been through the centuries a witness to live merchant activity, assemblies and even public executions. Located in the heart of the old walled city, the square was designated an architectural monument by UNESCO and features some of the most impressive buildings in Sibiu.
Carefully restored, the city houses the Samuel Bruckenthal Museum of Art, opened by the former Governor of Transylvania in 1817, with masterpieces of universal painting (Antonello da Messina, Boticelli, Titian, Rubens, Jan Van Dyck, Memling and Breugel).
From the 1860s onwards, Sibiu became the settlement of the Metropolitan Bishop. The city is still considered the third of the important centers of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

Hello Luis,
A few drops of rain didn't stop you from taking a photo with very good colours and light, but I think you may have added a blue tone to what was probably a washed out sky. I remember Sibiu as a very pretty city, just like the others you mention in the note, but my favourite was actually Cluj Napoca, less elegant but with a great atmosphere. This photo is very nicely composed with a tightly framed view of the bending street lined with fine buildings and the couple under an umbrella perfectly placed in the foreground.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hola Luis,
lovely street scene.
I am usually very weather sensitive and on a rainy weather day I don't actually use my camera at all but looking at this photo I think it has so mcuh charm with plenty of color provided by architecture and even the sky preserved some blue tone. People walking under umbrella indicate it is raining and they introduce a romantic touch.
I am glad you did not get discouraged from taking photos on this bad weather day.
The effect is really nice.
Very well done,
M

Hello Luis,
I visited Sibiu in 2005 and everywhere in town works were in progress with the intention to be ready before 2007.
I've never seen anywhere else so many scaffolding and broken-up streets.
Yet, I found Sibiu a very beautiful and charming city!
Beautiful houses we see here in a very charming street with cobblestones.
Some of the windows in the roofs are so typical for Romania.
I know they exist also in some other countries but I saw them most in Romania.
Best regards, Paul

Salut Luis,

Hola Luis,
This is a picturesque part of the city, where anyone would love to explore and record. It is very different from the tall, communist block, where a friend of mine lived before moving to the U.K.
You have chosen an excellent viewpoint, with the curve of the road creating a very smooth guide, from the f/g to a strong vanishing point.
The young couple, in the f/g, is perfectly placed to give a strong starting point, to animate the scene and, perhaps, begin a narrative.
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hi Luis
You certainly captured the mood giving a real feel of a rainy day but a joyful scene with lots of interest and details to engage the viewer. Excellent street shot.
NB I feel the colours especially green, red and cyan appeared to be over saturated on my screen-that's my sincere comments
Best regards

Hello Luis,
Even on that rainy day the city looked really attractive with those charming houses in nice and warm colours. Very good composition and the couple under their umbrella in the middle was very well included.

Hello Luis,
A wonderful series of photos from Romania just before the covid pandemic. Superb daily life picture on the bend of the street showing interesting architecture of the buildings. Nicely saturated photo that shows strong colors on this rainy day.
Well done with perfect quality.
Best regards,

Hola Luis,
I see that Gert is on the ball with the sky! I, too, sometimes add a blue tint to a washed out white sky if it's raining or overcast. It looks natural here and contrasts well with the red and yellow facades of the buildings. The people with umbrellas animate the scene. I enjoyed my time in Sibiu. Tfs
