St Margaret's Church

I often wondered whether I would be able to reach 1500 posts here, but here it is, my 1500th post. It shows St Margaret's Church (Biserica Sfânta Margareta) in the town of Mediaș. It is a fortified church as well, hence the watchtower next to the church tower. The late Gothic church was completed in 1488 by the ethnic German Transylvanian Saxons. Originally it was Roman Catholic, but it has been Lutheran since the Reformation.

The clock tower prominently above with bright new paint shining under noon-time sun, lars.
Good view from the humble fgarden in fromnt of the building, probably built from different times.

Hej Lars,
Bilden har fin balans mellan de olika byggnaderna och de diagonala planteringarna i förgrunden leder blicken mot det väl placerade kyrktornet. Finns det verkligen några lutheraner kvar här? Jag trodde att nästan alla tyskättlingar lämnade Rumänien för länge sedan. Medias hann jag inte med, för det fanns så många andra fina platser i Rumänien, men mitt tåg gick sönder vid stationen här och blev stående i ett par timmar, så att jag kom fram till Sibiu trött och arg och väldigt hungrig. ;-)

The question is, will you hit 2000? TE is unfortunately dying like the Do Do Bird. This scene is incredibly interesting, look at all the various types of architecture here, so different...and what's that in the fg? some sort of ruin?

Congratulations on such a round number of photos here. Having said that I am jusy 12 photos behind you so I will soon catch up with you :)
But it is not only the quantity, the quality of your photos is great and it is always a pleasure to visit your gallery. PLus we always learn something about the world.
Very good point of view with several interesting structures squeezed into one shot. The tallest tower has quite extraordinary pattern of the tiles.

Hello Lars, a very elegant church tower next to a plainer functioning watchtower.
I imagine your choice of viewpoint was not an easy one, yet you have presented a variety of buildings of different styles.

The fg ruins of the former fortifications add depth and layering to the composition as well as extra interest. Good sharpness and the bg clocktower makes a great focal point. Tfs!
