Stare freske.

Old frescoes.

A view of the old frescoes in the Sisoje Monastery.
Fresco (Italian fresco; "fresh" or "wet" and contrasted with Italian al secco; dry) or fresco (csl.) is a traditional painting process, by which colors are applied directly to fresh lime plaster. Fresco is the oldest technique in painting and dates back to prehistoric times. The name and refinement of the technique originates from the Italian Renaissance. One of the most beautiful Serbian frescoes is the fresco of the White Angel, which is located in the Mileseva Monastery, and in addition to this fresco in Serbia, there are frescoes in other Serbian monasteries from the era of the flourishing of art in Serbia, which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List - SPC under the name "Medieval Monuments in Kosovo and Metohija" and during the Golden Age of Serbian painting, i.e. the time when this painting, namely fresco painting, was at a very high level compared to the entire painting in Europe during the 13th century.
