Photographer's Note

The Zamkovského Chalet (1475 m above the sea) is a very nice chalet situated in the lower part of the Malá Studená dolina (the Small Cold Valley).
The chalet was built in 1943 by Štefan Zamkovský (1908 - 1961), a famous mountain-guide and a climber. It soon became very popular among the hikers and climbers, who started to call the hut after its builder.
After it was nationalised by communistic state authorities, Štefan Zamkovský had to leave the High Tatras.
In 1992 the chalet was returned to the ownership of the successors of Štefan Zamkovský.

The hut is located in the woods, and do not be surprised if you are greeted by a well-grown bear at the door – carved from wood. The electric fence around the hut is not without a cause, though, as there were instances when a sandwich left on the terrace at night ended up as real bear supper. The area around the Zamkovszky Hut offers various hiking possibilities; there are a couple of marked trails that can be combined in a number of ways.

Now I wouldn't call that a hut! Chalet - yes. (you should see our mountain huts.
A good photo of the chalet in its very peaceful and bushy setting.

Hello Piotr,
It's a fine building in beautiful surroundings and it offers a place to relax for tired hikers. I would much rather have a beer here than meeting a bear. ;-) It's a nicely framed photo with fine light and colours.

Hello Piotr,

The chalet does look welcoming with the many parasols on the veranda, against the lovely, wooden facade.
You have used the pathway as very effective guide to the focal chalet, situated between the trees.

wyglada na to ze jednak zmierzasz ku 200 zdjeciom ze Slowacji :)
Widze ze kontynuujesz temat gorskich schronisk. To tutaj wyglada jakby ktos chcial je ukryc przed swiatem, a moze zabezpieczyc przed zywiolami takimi jak halny.
Pieknie to pokazales, sporo cieplego swiatla dostalo sie do kadru a drzewa przyjemnie obramowuja schronisko.
