View from Vogel of Lake Bohinj

Lake Bohinj is the largest natural and permanent lake in Slovenia.
It formed by glacier action about 10,000 years ago. It is located
in the upper Bohinj valley. This lake is the cleanest Slovenian lake and its catchment basin is located within Triglav National Park.

Lake Bohinj is 4.2 km (2.6 mi) long and 1 km (0.62 mi) at its maximum width. It is a glacial lake dammed by a moraine. The largest of the streams that flow into the lake, the Savica , is fed from Crno jezero (Black Lake), the lowest-lying lake in the Triglav Lakes Valley. The outflow at the eastern end is the Jezernica creek which merges with the Mostnica to form the Sava Bohinjka, which in turn becomes the larger Sava River at the confluence with the Sava Dolinka. As found out already by Belsazar Hacquet in the 18th century, much more water leaves Lake Bohinj than enters it, which is explained with subterranean sources of water.

A great view of this beautiful scenery with a mixture of hills and fields, forests and lake. It was a nice day and the light clouds are nicely reflected in the lake.

Bardzo ładne zdjecie z góry. Bohinj jest duzo mniej popularny od Bled, ale też jest badzo ładne, no i takie troche dzikie.

The length of the lake is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the lake and of the mountains. The light is giving good colors output. Have a nice day.

Hi Piotr,
Beautiful landscape down from a mountain towards that lake. Steep mountain slopes with forests look great. The weather was perfect. I like those shadows of clouds.
