Martuljek mountain group is a mighty mountain triangle amid the valleys of Vrata, Krnica and Sava. The highest peak is Skrlatica (2738 m). The group is among the least visited in the region of the Julian Alps. Marked trails lead only to Spik and Skrlatica, there is no mountain hostel and visitors are offered only four refuges. The Martuljek group is best known for its image from the north. In front of the picturesque cliffs from Kukova spica to the characteristically pyramidal Spik are the basins of Za Akom (east) and Pod Srcem (west). The geologically interesting basins of the lower Martuljek stream and Lower and Upper Martuljek waterfalls, by the trail to the basins, are worth noticing in passing. The northern part of the group is protected as a nature reserve.

Access: The finest view of the northern part of the Martuljek group is from Srednji vrh, to which there is a road and marked footpath from Martuljek. The start of the trail to both basins is close to Hotel Spik in Martuljek. The trail is not very well maintained, so care and good boots are necessary.

... Village of Gozd Martuljek is close to famous resort Kranjska Gora. There is excellent asphalt bicycle path going from KG to Martuljek and beyond. In the picture it goes between trees, behind the cottage. Rusty iron bridge can also be found along that path.
