Classic postcard from Skofja Loka.

The Selca Sora River in Skofja Loka. The Cappuchin Bridge (Slovene: Kapucinski most) crossing it is the oldest preserved bridge in Slovenia.

In 973, the lordship of Skofja Loka was granted by Emperor Otto II to the Bishops of Freising, and for the next one thousand years the history of the town was tied to that of the distant ecclesiastical principality. A castle and tower were built above the town for defense purposes and later became the residence of the bishop's governor. Skofja Loka was first mentioned as having market rights in 1248, and having town rights in 1274. Skofja Loka was walled in the 14th century.

Hello Piotr,
I remember this small picturesque town not too far from Slovenia's capital.
Excellent capture of the 'eye' formed by the bridge and its reflection in the river.
The light colours of the facades make the houses stand out nicely against the dark wooded mountain slopes.
Well composed, good depth and attractive natural colours.

The reflections on the water are assets to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the bridge and of the houses. The light is giving good colors rendering. Have a nice day.

An impressive shooting spot to have the whole of this olde stone bridge bounded by such a peaceful looking village. The calm water and its reflection offer another strong elements to clinch this shot. Lovely light and contrast. Tx for sharing

A very good photo from this pretty town. You already saw my photo from the same place but from another angle. This is probably a better composition, at least for lovers of bridges. ;-) The trees and the reflections in the river complement the view of the fine buildings perfectly.

Lovely view of this town with the large arch of the bridge in the middle and the appealing houses on both sides. The ones at right were bathing in a wonderful sunlight as well and the landscape in the distance made a great backdrop.

Hello Piotr,

What a fine viewpoint, to capture not only the buildings either side of the bridge but also, the bridge and its reflection, so there is a very natural flow from left to right.
The reflection is a gem!
It gives the effect that there is a circle in the centre of the scene, which we can look through and see the river bank.
