Photographer's Note

Vogel lies within the Triglav National Park, at the head of the Bohinj valley. You can reach the lower Vogel cable car station on foot by following one of the maintained trails along the north or south shores of Lake Bohinj. You can also access it by means of public transport, the Bohinj tourist boat or by car, which can be parked in our free parking area. Vogel cable car then takes you to the upper cable car station.

The upper Vogel cable car station, located at 1,535 metres, greets visitors with spectacular panoramic views of Komna, the Triglav mountains and all the way to the Kamnik and Savinja Alps. This is why Vogel is an excellent choice for anyone who wishes to admire the views of the Alps .

Vogel is also an ideal starting point for those looking for ideas for shorter and longer hiking tours.
he Julian Alps (in Slovenian Julijske Alpe ) are a mountain range of the Southern Limestone Alps that stretch from northeastern Italy to Slovenia, where they rise to 2,864 m at Mount Triglav, the highest peak in Slovenia. A large part of the Julian Alps is included in Triglav National Park. The second highest peak of the range, the 2,755 m high Jôf di Montasio, lies in Italy.

The Julian Alps cover an estimated 4,400 km2 (of which 1,542 km2 lies in Italy). They are located between the Sava Valley and Canale Valley. They are divided into the Eastern and Western Julian Alps.

The Julian Alps were known in antiquity as Alpe Iulia. The range was named after Julius Caesar of the Julian clan, perhaps due to a road built by Julius Caesar and completed by Augustus.

HI Piotr,this is the place for me! Pizzeria!! I'm not sure to eat a good pizza there, but is enough for a break after a long walk. Perfect capture despite the dark light on the facade,interesting place in slovenian Alps not often seen on TE. Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hello Piotr,
It's a beautiful building. I have no idea how old it could be, maybe not old at all, but I suppose it's built in a traditional style. It's a sign of the times that there is now a pizzeria. The two persons are well included and you managed the light nicely. It's not your fault that the façade is in the shade.

Hi Piotr,
Wonderful looking restaurant offering a break for hikers on the mountains. Obviously the building is old. I know pizza is served almost everywhere. But still it is a bit surprising to see that text above the entrance.

A lovely view of this wooden house in the mountains on a clear and bright day. The bit of landscape in the left hand side is well included as well, just as the two people walking towards the building.

this big house in timber remind me some poor barns we had here when I was a little boy, with the roof made of timber. I guess it was a polish heritage. excellent sample of architecture.

Hello Piotr,

With choices of long or short hikes, and the possibility of refreshments at this stunning location, this must be popular.
The building looks like traditional chalets and though the front is shaded, we can still obtain excellent details of its size, shape and materials..
The couple is well included, strongly placed and animating the scene.
