Photographer's Note
The name Piran is said to be derived from the word for fire. Piran sticks out of Slovenia into the Adratic Sea which can be seen from the castle in Miramare (very near the Trek Earth exhibit in Italy).
It is always great fun to enjoy the old pedestrianized streets in a place like this. There are hundreds of years of untold stories and dozens of generations that have lived within these quiet walls.
technique: The soft blur effect on this image wasn't from any fancy post processing. I had not noticed that I had bumped the macro focus switch to ON for most of my day here, but luckily I was happy with the result - softness, especially where there were bright patches of light.

Very nice! I love the soft feeling you managed to create by accident. Well done!

Dan, accidental or not, the result is quite good. The softness is a nice touch, couple of times I als had macro on when I shouldn't have, but the results were simply OOF disaters, this isn't the case here. Apart from the pleasent softness I like the vibrant colours and the old town feeling evident in this image.
Just wish the wall wasn't so washed out.
Too bad there wasn't a little girl playing or dancing over there, it would make the shot spectacular.

A very good shot. Your forgetting the macro switch was certainly useful here. These soft tones with decaying walls are a plesure to the eye. Unfortunate that the left wall is overexposed.
Peter's right: imagine a child playing and you would have (except for the color) a HCB type of shot

Bonjour Dan,
Il y a un petit moment que je n'étais pas venu voir tes photos... Celle ci est magnifique. Les couleurs et l'atmosphère "floue" sont superbes. Félicitations.
