Photographer's Note
A giant waterwheel and the ruined old flour mill of Albolafia on the banks of the Guadalquivir River which runs through Cordoba. Part of the old Roman Bridge can be seen in the bg. Apparently it is a reconstruction of an old Roman water wheel, but in the 15th century, Queen Isabella, the Catholic queen of Spain, had it taken down to remove its annoying, squeaking noise. Hi Chris
A great old lot of mill and wheel remains. Good colour and narrow perspective.
Can't upload at the moment as my computer has to go to the computer hospital - still one Cobbold to go.
Cheers

Hello Denis,
I have a picture of this waterwheel from a different angle. Very pleasant warm lights and colours and some nicely rendered textural detail.

Hello Chris,
Queen Isabella sounds petulant!
Such a means of producing power would be welcomed in modern times!
It's a lovely photograph, taken in a good light to produce fine colours and very well composed so that we can see the details of the building, as well as the details of the wheel, which seems in remarkably good condition. It almost gives the impression that the building is mobile!
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hi Chris,a very big one from the Cordoba region, the style reminds a lot the norias of Hama that i seen some years ago in Syria before the revolution. It's a pity that seems in ruin and abandoned now. The pic is absolutely perfect and the note useful as usual. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hello Chris,
In Hamah in Syria I saw several wheels like this. They were among the landmarks of the city, but I don't know if they remain today. This one is unlikely to have been destroyed since 2013, and the ruin probably still looks the same. Both of them are really beautiful, and the photo has very nicely saturated colours.
Best regards,
Gert

Bonjour Chris,

Amicalement

Hello Chris
This is a well documented image of this place. Waterwheels I have seen, but not in this scale. Nice tight framing to eliminate unwanted modern influence. very appealing.

Beautiful water-wheel that is one I call "ancient wisdom", like windmills and sun-dial, Chris.
Not much water in the river-bed, as summer in Cordoba can be scorching heat.
As always, a fine outcome.
Good night,

An imposing waterwheel, I wonder how our ancestors could build such a great construction without computer calculations, an interesting engineering monument

Hello Chris,
I remember this water wheel near the river in Cordoba but I don't have such a beautiful picture of it.
I have to admit that it looks impressive here.
Beautiful warm tones in contrast with the darker wheel.
Excellent presentation.
Best regards, Paul

Ciao Chris
sembra veramente enorme questa ruota, sicuramente era un mulino molto importante e ci doveva essere molto lavoro e un gran viavai in questo luogo.
Bella testimonianza e interessante condivisione.
Saluti
