Mezquita Cathedral Bell tower, a photo from Cordoba, Andalucia

Photographer's Note

The belltower of the Mezquita Cathedral dates from 1589 AD. It replaced an earlier structure damaged in an earthquake. At 54 metres in height, it is the tallest structure in Cordoba. The previous structure replaced a Muslim minaret built to serve the Aljama Mosque during the Ottoman occupation of Spain and constructed in 944/945 AD.

Hello Chris,
It's a magnificent tower and the trees provide a fine foreground. You handled the strong contrasts well but I might have straightened up the tower a bit. There is a fairly clear tilt to the right.

Hello Chris,

This is one spectacular tower, from its height, its decorative features and its four, visible bells.
The details are clearly recorded but it’s position reminds me of the one at Pisa! 😆
The pathway to the arch and steps is a very effective guide, made all the more leisurely by the figures in the shade.
The bright sunlight and strong shadows add to the atmosphere.

Superb and very clear capture of the impressive clock tower, whose warm hue stands out so well from the perfectly blue sky. The green trees in the foreground add a great natural frame.

Great view of the bell tower seen from in the courtyard of the Mezquita Cathedral .
The trees that frame the view here offer a welcome shade during the hot summer months.
Did you climb the tower? If I remember well, it had only limited opening hours.

Hello Chris,
Mezquita from Cordoba is very often shown on TE but rarely this tower. Great view against the dark blue sky. Nice composition, good depth and colours. The tilt could be corrected.

beautiful capture of this amazing cathedral. Photographing tall structures at their base it so challenging but the effect here is stunning. Most of all the colors are so vivid so eye catching.
You have nicely framed the tower in between the trees on both sides which bring more color.

Hello Chris,
Marvelous view of the most famous Mazquita in Cordoba.
The upwards POV shows well the belss and decorative "crown".
On the ground level we get a fine sense of depth into the entrance through the rows of trees.

Istambul transformed a church in a mosque, Cordoba did the opposite.. a nice view of the tower. I liked the vertical compo with the orange trees and the personage in evidence.
