Photographer's Note

First, I am going to promise that I won't post again any photo like this one.

Let me say why.

In the postprocessing what I've done, has been increase the contrast; but before I've added brightness in the houses, the street and the tree. After also a bite of sharpness.

And it's true, there are noise in the photo. But the problem is not the noise (sometimes doesn't dislikes to me).

The problem is that I have a problem with the brightness of my computer and probably the photo that I can see is different than the photo that you see.

And if I see an unreal but, for me, nice photo, perhaps in another computer won't be (and the brightness could be a reason).
And I am afraid...

Anyway, like I've said, I hope that you can see an unreal but nice landscape, in a stormy afternoon in Quintanilla del Coco. And remember: the sky is real!

And let me say that I am glad, because I share with you the last rays of one day in my village...

Well it's obvious you've done some PP here, but all to good effect. The main plus with this is the inclusion of an interest street scene to go with the dramitic sky.

Increibles colores Carlos, el cielo en llamas parce que llega a incendiar el arbol. El postproceso crea una imagen fantasmagórica. Impresiona el contraste entre el cielo y la tierra. Muy bien creada, hay que saber ver la toma sobre el terreno y saber como quedará al final del trabajo que has operado sobre ella. Perfecto amigo.

me gusta mucho esta imagen, de verdad algo surealista pero el efecto es estupendo!
No se lo que tu vees en tu monitor pero la luz del cielo que aparece en el mio es muy particular y el contraste con la casa vieja en media sombria es muy impresionante.

Hey Carlos. I think you need to work on finding more dramatic lighting in your shots, lol! Obviously I'm being sarcastic. I think the PP is good and not overly done by any stretch of the imagination. I saw a sky like that once but by the time I got my camera it was gone. :( Awesome shot Carlos!

you know i am really unfamous for having noises in my pictures, so i don't mind the noise in this picture much.Quintanilla del Coco shows a great sky and i gues it is a warm good-bye from mother nature.
i think brightness is just right and the color complements the mood.

I agree with some of the other remarks, that the PP does not appear excessive. You certainly created a fiery sky that well represents your caption. Its a great effect and helps create an unusual ambience. The clarity and sharpness levels moreover are superb, with little PP softening. Well seen and captured.

Very successful PP. Without brightening the houses there would be too much in silhouette and this wonderful sky deserves to be seen. I don't see enough noise to be troubling and I don't like noise in general. A lovely image of your favourite place.

hola carlos, i do like the final result, i also have similiar problem with the screen: i prepare the photos on one comp, and search trek earth on the other - the results are sometimes surprising;
and - as i said - i like the result here, the "shouting" colours, very aggressove (in a positive meaning), and still - the shadowed areas are exposed properly;

Also got the same problem, may be I can find a device for better calibration: I thibk there's one in the market.
In the other part light or dark what I see here on my computer is very pleasant, perhaps the building cout support to be darker a bit: But very nice as it is.

I can see that you're still posting almost daily!

Here, you have a very interesting work. I can bet, that you were not expecting this sucess. Usually I don't like much of photos with too much postprocessing, as they radical alter the true mood of the moment of the shot. But sometimes I'm attracted to some nice results. And I like very much this one, kind of surreal and artistic result, as a painting. It's very impressive that the sky is actually real! Indeed, amazing to see a sky on fire.

Tremendo cielo. No se si has hecho mucho post-proceso o lo que has hecho está dentro de los límites permitidos en estas páginas, pero el efecto es estupendo. En mi ordenador la foto queda bien, quizás algo demasiado clarita. Enhorabuena por esta vista de Quintanilla, un clásico.
Espero que después del periodo que he estado por una terrible falta de tiempo (mudanza de casa y trabajo consiguiente), pueda visitar más a menudo TE.

Stormy sky with lot of actions Vs bit dark, stagnant life down the earth..

House & surroundings are bit nervous...bit puzzled & probably waiting for something to happened in red burning sky..
May be showers...
that can change the whole mood..
a new , golden sunrays..may bring new hope...
some action down the earth..

wonderful smell of wet soil, some roadside small flowers, & sudden appearance of colorful butterflies..

Life..really wonderful ...every moment..some thing new...new colors.that brings the change of mood.

Fantastic!
The low POV comparing to the level of the buildings give them some more strength.
I like that street scene, and ofcourse the sky is the main ingredient here...or atleast..a very necessary topping on the desert. Without the terrific sky colours I think this photo would not have this great appeal.
Inclusion of trees was a good idea for the left side.
So very good composition too.

Clouds in the sky is one of my favorite subject, sometime we do pp for make it better, more contrast, more saturation but i think what have you done on your picture it stills ok, i like the dramatic athmosphere created from the last sun rays. Well done Carlos thanks for the shot.

Very colorful Photo.Nice colors but shadows were opened a bit too much that some shadow noise is visible.
Why don't you calibrate your monitor?There are software and hardware utilities for specifically this problem.There is even a little and free program comes with most Adobe products called "Adobe Gamma" to calibrate your monitor,so other people can see in the same brightness and color temperature that you see.
Do a search on google and you will find out how to install that program.

Do not fear my friend. Your composition and PP is very nice. Yes it looks unnatural but this is what adds to the theme. Very nice positioning of your subject. I don't mind the grainy noise.

Of course everything was written about this great picture.
I add my humble opinion.
There is no noise in this composition.
Noise is comming only with long exposure more than one second and with high ISO between 800 and 1600 ISO variable with the differents models of camera.
Noise is comming also with very low cold temperature more than -5° C.
Noise is a multitude of mixing green,red and blue pixels points.
In your case, The two guilties is Sharp processing and Reduction pixels size.
Your picture looks alittle bit grainy but for my self it's not a problem.

it is a great play of the light and the other photographic elements that you could provide. It is a good leap to produce and it looks like you like to bee seen. I like this type of dramatic sky with great persepctive created.The location of the people is also nice as if they were also wandering what is happening.

Lo primero que me sorprende son los colores en el cielo, mucha variedad de color y buena limpieza…perfecto.

Lo segundo, el resto del decorado…pués a primera vista, muy sencillo, pero con buen POV, ademas creo que, el tono de color grisaceo de la casona, hace mas poderosa a la imagen.

Nada mas…que, muchas como esta.

This is a wonderful yet a little bit eerie shot. The fiery red sky with the desolate looking building in the shadows look attractive, and at the same time the lifeless nature of the building makes it look like a haunted one... to me at least. Thanks for sharing.

The noise is probably caused by too much sharpening but it adds some old-fashioned grain to the picture so it's not bad at all. The sky is really amazing and I love the contrast between the colors of the two halves of the picture. Thanks for sharing!

Sometime we photograph a pic. that it's explanation is beyond reality: It is real that sky can get such a "firey" composition ( see my post on Dec.18th'09, the "burning-cloud"), and no post-processing is requiered - best to leave it as is .
