Photographer's Note

The Henares River is born in the Sierra Ministra, on the Castilian branch of the Iberian System, at 1,220 m altitude. Its source is located northeast of Horna, near Sigüenza, it flows in a northeast-southwest direction.

It has a route of 160 km, most of which (approximately 124) through the lands of Guadalajara. In this section, the Sorbe, the Cañamares, the Salado, the Aliendre and the Bornova are taxed on the right, and on the left the Dulce and the Badiel.

It enters the Community of Madrid at the height of Los Santos de la Humosa and heads towards Alcalá de Henares, in which term it receives on the right the Camarmilla stream and the Torote river, the last of its relevant tributaries. It flows into the Jarama, northwest of the urban area of Mejorada del Campo, at an altitude of 578 m.

Because of its flow and length, the Henares is the most important tributary of the Jarama River.

El rio Henares nace en la sierra Ministra, en la rama castellana del Sistema Ibérico, a 1.220 m de altitud. Su fuente se sitúa al nordeste de Horna, cerca de Sigüenza. Fluye en dirección nordeste-suroeste.

Tiene un recorrido de 160 km, la mayor parte de los cuales (aproximadamente 124) por tierras guadalajareñas. En este tramo, le tributan por la derecha el Sorbe, el Cañamares, el Salado, el Aliendre y el Bornova, y por la izquierda el Dulce y el Badiel.

Entra en la Comunidad de Madrid a la altura de Los Santos de la Humosa y se dirige hacia Alcalá de Henares, en cuyo término recibe por la derecha al arroyo Camarmilla y al río Torote, el último de sus afluentes de relevancia. Desemboca en el Jarama, al noroeste del casco urbano de Mejorada del Campo, a una altitud de 578 m.

Por su caudal y longitud, el Henares es el afluente más importante del río Jarama.

Hello Luis,
The scenery is attractive but this photo is almost entirely about stunning colours of the ground and the river. But the two trees spreading their branches above the water are also very strong focal-points. Colours and composition make this one of the most eye-catching photos on the site today.

I wonder if you have been enjoying perusing your archives as much as I have!
You found a beautiful photograph, to share, here. The river is very important, providing colour and acting as a guide inwards.
Those f/g trees are also important, making strong focal points, creating a sense of perspective and with the delicate overhang, link together the elements of land and water.
The atmosphere is peaceful; there are no distractions from the beauty and serenity of Nature.

me parece que esa vista es de la region rural de la ciudad, o de algún parque urbano. me gusta na vista con esos colores y el precioso aspecto de la naturaleza. el rio tiene el tamaño de lo tercero mas ancho de mi ciudad.

what a beautiful riverside composition!
I would never have guessed that this is in the Madrid area since it appears so wild with no traces of civilization.
The trees are so nicely shaped and well placed in the frame, with the trees also well filling the sky.

Luis, el turquesa del rio combina bien con el color ocre del suelo. El agua proviene de las montañas de los alrededores y riega esta region seca. Las hojas de los arboles aun no habian crecido en la primavera. Una linda foto de la naturaleza. Hermosos colores, una imagen nitida, saludos cordiales.
