Self-confidence, a photo from Lanzarote, Canarias

Photographer's Note

My second day on Lanzarote was about having family fun in the swimming pool before the lunch and going to the local beach after lunch. We stayed in a resort town called Puerto del Carmen. The closest beach to our hotel was Playa Grande (in this photo). As you can see the weather was cloudy but as they say “if life gives you lemons – make a lemonade” so I tried to turn the cloudy weather into an advantage. I tried to make some photos copying the style of our friend Costantino. It was a beautiful beach with quite extraordinary color of the sand, and I really regret that I didn’t manage to visit it again.

The title refers to the attitude of the boy who, in my perception, enters the scene with a great self-confidence.
This reminds me a song from the Disney movie Moana:

See the light as it shines on the sea

Hello Mariusz,
The title of your photo fits the boy's attitude very well indeed.
I think the story continues like this:
The boy confidently runs to the water. Once there, he puts one foot in the water and is shocked that the ocean is much colder than expected. Very quickly he turns around, runs up the beach and shouts, "Mom, let's go to the swimming pool."
Frankly, I know people who often go on vacation to a warm destination, spend a lot of time in their hotel around the pool and never ever get to a beach.
Although we see little land in this photo and there are still a few others visible in the distance, the picture has something of a desolate island.
At the back left we also see mountains.
Do these still belong to Lanzarote or to another Canary Island?

A beautiful view with dark clouds but also some bright sunshine, which worked very well together here and added some nice and silvery tones to the calm sea. Good inclusion of the child walking confidently to the shoreline.

Though it was cloudy weather, we can appreciate the glow over the wet sand and water, a silvery hue given to the scene.
The little kid walk onto the water with "self-confidence' as written, was a nice added bonus to the whole.

Hello Mariusz,

You immediately added extra interest by adding character analysis in your title.
This small child, without any visible interaction with an adult, is strolling confidently towards the waves. His reflection in the wet sand and the slight descending sunbeams, give him greater importance.
Though the darkness of the sky and the sea seem a little foreboding, the jauntiness of this small guy dispels any worries.

I liked a lot the compo with the dark menacing cloud and the use of the light and reflections in the humid sand. the boy is an excellent personage. very beautiful and well done. I stay at the beach in my last trip only during two days, most of my other bathes were in lakes, lagoons, rivers, bubbling spots and falls.

It is interesting that if it weren't for the sand on the right, this photo could pass as B&W - the scenery was so gray. How warm was the water?
