Photographer's Note

Seminario Mayor San Pelagio (Major Seminary of San Pelagio) is a lesser known building in Cordoba which gets little attention but is overshadowed by its more famous neighbour, the Mosque Cathedral of Cordoba, aka the Mezquita. The Seminary was built in 1583 and named after a 10th century boy who was martyred for refusing to renounce his Christianity and convert to Islam. He was executed by dismemberment and beheading and his remains thrown into the Guadalquivir River. They were later retrieved and buried in a cemetery.
