Photographer's Note
Look and enjoy.
I think that this place could be the beginning of a story. In some way is a continuation of this picture.
But here we can see behind the trees. And behind the trees appears the Tabladillo valley.
There, in the valley you could see an old monastery. In the original picture, with the real size I mean, was possible see the monastery, even when is 8 km far from here.
Well, really, more than the monastery, is possible see an old sequoia inside the monastery (this tree and an old cypress are the most famous trees of this place).
Perhaps you can recognize the mountains at the end of the photo: you has seen the mountains in another photos. (I, II)
At the right you could see, at the South, the “Peña Cervera”. Also is possible see that mountain in anothers photos of my gallery.
Also at the right, and between the forest and the “Peña Cervera”, you would see Quintanilla del Coco.
Between Quintanilla del Coco and Santo Domingo de Silos: the valley. And the Mataviejas river crossing the valley.
Perhaps you can see how appears a line of trees: that’s the river.
Finally let me say that in the middle of the valley there is Santa Cecilia (views from la Peña Cervera: I, II)
Perhaps you don’t know, but in this little hermitage is possible see in the apse a greek cross.
The reason?
Crusaders.
The crusaders brought until this land oriental influences. And that’s the reason why you can see that greek cross.
I hope you like.
(for more information, you can see also the photo of the first link and also see this another view of the valley from Cocolandia)

Added to the original note: a few minutes ago I heard a sad new, the american film composer Basil Poledouris passed away the past 8th of November.
He was one of the best filmcomposers still alives and his music is a great legacy for us.
Sometimes when I make a photo I have "music" in my mind. And this picture could need his music.
Let me remember Poledouris with this note and with this photo.
My deepest sympathy to all Basil's friends.
("farewell to the king" is the title of one of the films where he worked)

Amazing job with the ssky, Coco, Really beautiful. But maybe the picture is a bit too dark?
Still. I enjoy the view of this beautiful valley, which reminds me the beauiful trip that I had in this area, a few years ago.

Hola Carlos,
you played a lot with the light; very impressive with the somber parts. Guess, the sun was deep, lighting up the clouds from the side.
Would have tried to increase brightness a 'tich'
Have a nice weekend

Hi Carlos,
what I like is the dramatic sky and the way the clouds are comming into the valley. A very nice focus. I like the tones and the lightning including the shadows.
Nice job,
Nino.

Bonjour Carlos,
Merci.

Hi carlos
A very dramatic sky with a superb tonal range & excellent contrast, although I would dodge the fg shadows a little to bring out some additional detail. Good color & composition. Tfs!

Hola Carlos,

Salutacions,
Josep

Hi Carlos,
Although there are dark portions that could be lightened, the overall effect is quite dramatic and moving. The silhouettes help set a mysterious mood, the sky is angry, and the roadway dark and a little foreboding. Yet there are enough gloriously sunlit portions to enthrall and raise the spirits as well. Quite a blend of moods here, Carlos. Well done.

Hola Carlos,
Angel.

Hola Coco,
Your Quintanilla del Coco shots are so intimate, so full of love. Every time I see them, they remind me of how I felt when I was in Tuscany in a tiny village not even on the map. I was so filled with its beauty... and I am sure that I would feel very similarly in Quintanilla del Coco too. I love your shots of it, your stories, your sentiments about it. Here you have created some drama, perhaps a bit too contrasty, or a bit dark, but it remains a very intimate and nice shot. I wonder what would happen if you posted in the WS the original, not contrasty one. Would the feeling be lost?
Take care and have a nice Sunday!

I missed this one earlier. You are creating your own unique style with this Quintanilla del Coco series. The extreme contrast works well for you with the late light conditions you had. There's such a dramatic atmosphere that you convey so well. Good work.

Saludos
José
