Eagerly waiting for spring, a photo from Sodermanland, Svealand

Photographer's Note

This was taken on the same day in May last year as my last photo, during one of my regular walks on Södermalm island in Stockholm.

Like my last photo it is obviously nothing special. Just children and a few parents at a small playground. I probably took the photo mainly for the people and received the blossoming tree as a bonus.

This year a similar view is still maybe two months away. I can't wait. Even though this winter has been remarkably mild, it has been possibly darker than usual because of so many cloudy and rainy days and no snow to reflect the light. I hate these 4-5 months of almost permanent darkness.

Some of you may prefer the WS photo taken 36 minutes earlier.

I can see a few green buds on the tree which usually denotes Spring is not far off. Although officially it started March 1st. Good sharpness and and the budding Spidermen have the bg contraption in the playground to climb on. Tfs.

The climate in Sweden is really quite different from the middle European, though from the story of my Serbs living and working upstairs near you, and in Sweden, the climate is different in different parts of the country.
I like those two your photos.
Nice a small playground, peoples and tree with white flowers.

We wait indeed on springtime, but everyday rain and much wind in Belgium.
We get a nice springtime picture from one year ago wiyth perfect blossoms
With pleasant contrasts with the play garden.

Hello Gert,

After such an awful, wet winter, punctuated with floods and long nights, I can perfectly understand why the thought of spring blossoms and longer days is so welcome!
Certainly, the trees are strong, attractive features, spreading a cheerful atmosphere to the scenes.
The figures provide interest to the main post, showing different attitudes to the welcome good weather and I really like the colours and composition in the w/s.

Both the main upload and the WS photos are excellent if we see the colours, but of course the main upload is better due to the human presence. I particularly like the father and the son wearing the uniform caps.

here, at this moment, the southern wind is trying to rape my window and there is a storm in black at north, the southern army is fighting ahead.. today morning was even almost cold for a summer day.
nice details of the people in the square with the flowers in evidence. I presume in such cold regions spring should be a explosion of life.

Det har regnet næsten uafbrudt i de sidste uger og det ser ikke ud til at blive bedre vejr snart, men jeg kan ikke vente til det endelig bliver forår igen og vi kommer at se bybilleder som dette. Et dejligt syn på legepladsen under de blomstrende træer og de mange mennesker det nyder at sidde udenfor igen.

Gert, the tree in full blooming in spring prettifies that neighborhood. The adults are seated and relax whereas the children are playing in this park. Nice daily life shot. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.

Hello Gert, I suppose that it is worse in Stockholm than in Warsaw - the day is shorter and in the cloudy day it must be depressive. But soon be spring like this. Although there are just some parents and kid but very pleasant to looks at. Beautiful flowering tree, probably cherry. And what is in Workshop, magnolia? I suppose that the spring flowers will be gone already when I come home after the trip.

Looking at this, it makes me wonder what the people in the fg are viewing, they're all gazing in that same direction. and about the WS, it looks so familiar, perhaps you've posted that one before. The red fence is what's ringing a bell. And as for that children's play area, its amazing more children don't break a limb climbing/falling. Its so easy to get an arm or leg caught up in all the many sections, and one quick movement in the wrong direction...crack. We have one just like it up our street and it scares me to death seeing kids moving around on it. Anyways, I like that you used the large tree branches in most of your frame, it works well. cheers

Hej Gert. The soft light on the blossom and the people enjoying the early sun - it's a fab spring capture. And on the graphical level there's also the juxtaposition of the three and the abstract, red edition of it, to be enjoyed. I can relate to your feelings about this winter, ours was shorter but probabbly just as bad. Taka care, Bert.

A good snapshot of a time of day, where some people enjoy the good time sitting, children play in that kind of rope structure, all in the beautiful frame that gives the trees in bloom.
A magnificent color, which gives the image a lot of chromatic richness.

What a lovely scene. But in spite of what you say in the note, you probably were attracted by the blossoming tree as it occupies quite a lot of the frame.
Nice contrast with the yellow wall too.
I love the street and the tree in the WS. Sodermalm may not be a museum but it really is lovely. At least that's how I remember it!
