Tour de Diesse, a photo from Neuchatel, West

I have already shared with you a blue hour photo of the most popular view in Neuchatel HERE. I continued my walk through the narrow streets of the old town and found a lot of charming spots. Here I liked the extraordinary shape of the clock tower. This photo includes as well one of the characteristic fountains. Neuchatel has quite a few of them, they are all painted in a bit kitschy or may be simply old stylish colors. I didn’t originally like this photo for two reasons. One: the sky seems to be divided in two parts and this effect does not seem natural although it is. Two: there was an ugly looking scaffolding next to the fountain which I could not avoid. In the end I have cut it away together with most of the fountain. Still you see here the most interesting part of the fountain.

The tower with the red clock is called Tour de Diesse. I used help of Google to translate if from French:
Built in the 10th century and rebuilt around 1250, this tower is located at the entrance of the castle street, leading to the collegiate church. Its facades are made of Hauterive stones. It is named after a noble family and together with the Prison Tower it formed part of the medieval fortification.
Originally it was a prison, nowadays it is an art gallery.

Hello Mariusz,
A great shot with amazing lighting, both natural and artificial. The shapes of the tower do look really interesting and the different shades of blue behind it are also remarkable. The houses add some fine details, too, most of all the shutters at left. Also the small sculpture in the foreground is a nice bonus.

Cześć Mariusz,

Siegasz całkiem głęboko do szuflady (czy czeluści dysku). Rzeczywiście wieża ma ciekawy kształt. I po co opisywać, jakie jest niebo, czy podzielone, czy nie, i czy to jest tylko kawałek fontanny. Wygląda bardzo ładnie i już.

Hello Mariusz,

I think the beauty of this photograph is how, in the vertical format, the images keep on giving. Beginning with the statue, there is a natural and rewarding progression upwards to the face on the clock tower, which is exactly the same colour as the base of the statue; a beginning and a terminal link!
The soft light and honey colours makes this a very safe, welcoming scene.

curious the shapes of this tower, it doesn't looks so old. I liked a lot of the windows at left and the sculpture of this warrior. nice job. I guess I never had seen an image of this town.

Great composition of this charming corner, in which I am struck by the shutters of the hotel, which I have seen in other countries and I do not know if that drawing goes back to some old connection, then the sculpture of the warrior seems very interesting, the custom of painting them I think comes from the ancient era, like the great Romanesque covers of the churches that were painted all the sculptures and details, in Spain there are still some and what attracts the most attention is the tower with that curious rounded top and its great watches, is the first time I see this kind of tower.
Very good color that gives strength to the image.
Magnificent management of brightness and sharpness, to enjoy the details.
