Photographer's Note
Two churches. one on the hill, on the village, one flying, the replica of cathedral of St. Gallen
this one from the hot air balloon festival last year. For this year, the festival should start today. I wish to see the friday 26th night light and sound event (never seen one), but still not sure yet...

Hello Karina,
la 'Flying Papagolfade' sous des lumières parfaites, l'exposition est 'nickel' et des couleurs vives. Un excellent cadrage en décentré aussi.
Best regards.

Very nice take from last year's balloon festival, Cessy. Good placement of the "flying church" opposed to the real chapel on top of the hill. A curious and very effective framing for this vividly colorful photo.

Hi Cessy
I really like this shot, very unsual shape for a hot air ballon but i think it works well with the photo of the church.Well done

Hej Cessy,
Funny to see this flying cathedral in the very blue sky! The combination with the 'real' church on the hill is great and I also like the view of the people over there. Their clothes add some nice extra colours. Well captured and thanks for sharing!

Hi Karina,
Great shot, when I saw the thumbnail didn't realize what it was, looked like a castle in the air - thought it was photoshopped. Only for a second until I maximized it - those guys in the baloon were very ingenious :D Thanks for sharing!

LOLS!!! Cessy!
From the thumbnail, I was wondering what was that! You got me here! :)))) Still laughing! If churches begin to fly, we are in big (really big!) trouble. Or, the opposite? We are saved!
Very good composition!
... Impossible to write a critique Cessy! Each time I look at your picture, I start to laugh! I guess it is its principal quality!

All photographers' dream came truth.. and you witnessed that scene! Splendid weather, superb accidental meeting of two - real and artificial churches.. Flying baloons are so spectacular! and among all I have seen that one seems the best..
I save your shot as my favorite and it's a real pleasure :-)

Hi Cessy,
I've didn't even know they made balloons in church-form :) The colors are vivid, and I'm glad you can't see any land under the balloon; this enhances the airbourne church. TFS,

Well caught Cessy. The colours in the hot air balloon contrast so well with the glorious blue sky. A lovely sight. Well captured.

Hello, Cessy--
Great work here--the balloon wouldn't stand well alone, as there would be nothing to relate it to or balance it with, but including the actual church was a brilliant move. The two items complement each other well, and its nice how all the people add scale. The composition is great ,keeping everything on ground very grounded and emphasizing the height of the balloon by placing it above a place where the sky reaches to the bottom of the frame. Also, the two jet contrails above the actual church emphasize the concept of two.
Thanks!

LOL! That is a very clever composition, Cessy. Combining the flying "church" with the real is just great. Looking first just at the thumbnail I was completely confused and thought of "colage", although knowing that this isn't allowed at TE. Seeing the real post gave the explanation and a lot of laughter. Thanks for the relaxing and amusing moment.
The flying balloon looks like the St. Gallen church. Is that right?
Cheers, Peter

Hello Cessy,
What an astonishing moment you've recorded. The composition and exposure are first rate. I see you have submitted the image virtually on the anniversary of shooting it. It is possible to see throngs of people witnessing the flight of the unusual hot-air balloon, and now, thanks to you, hundreds of TE-members witnessing it as well. Well done!

Super surreal image, Cessy
I couldn't imagine what would it be floating exactly in the thumbnails. But it's a very surprising subject.
Very surprising balloon on a beautiful landscape with bright blue sky.
Great shot,

Hi Cessy
I recognize the Papagolfade there ;-)
Well balanced shot with the 2 churches against the stunning blue sky. We were lucky last year with the weather and I guess there's no snow now.
Hope it won't be too cold if you go to the Sound & Light.

Hi Cessy,
The wonders of technology...I like how you have balanced the balloon with the real church on the hill. It is also dramatic the way the snow covered mountain peak looms in the background, almost as a sentient element watching over the proceedings. A crisp clear and satisfying shot. Well captured.

This looks like a real fairytale. If the people don’t come to the church the church will come to the people. And of course you were very lucky with this fierce blue sky.

Maybe you could have used more DOF in order to make the church in the background a bit sharper.
Anyway excellent composition!

Hi Cessy. I thought you'd been busy with the Photoshop when I saw the thumbnail, so it was quite a surprise when I opened it. Perfect composition and very well balanced. You were lucky to have a clear blue sky - it wouldn't have worked so well against a cloudy sky. Great photo and technically very good (not so sure about that frame though!). Cheers . . . David
