The foreground glacier is the Gornergletscher with its numerous affluents; the peaks between Breihorn and Matterhorn are klein Matterhorn with the cable car, Theodulhorn and Furgggrat.

It was taken from the terrace of the Kulm Hotel Gornergrat, when the light is still good and the tourists are still not there, on the right, the train station.

Stitch from 12 vertical frames: Nikon D200 + AFS 12-24mm F/4 G @ 18 mm, 1/750 sec, f/5.6, ISO 100

Salut Didier,
Felicitations pour cette grandiose 400eme et pour les 399 precedentes, tu frappes un grand coup avec ce LP superbement assemble et tres rafraichissant, une magnifique collection de 4000 qui en jettera surement un max une fois affichee sur le mur chez toi en format poster !
Ben finalement il est quand meme la le Cervin, meme si relegue dans un petit coin... en tout cas bravo, superbe image !

Salut Didier,
Une belle collection de 4000 pour fêter ton 400e post, voilà une excellente idée! Il y a quelques années, j'avais fait quelque chose de semblable en faisant un enchaînement de 4 jours sur ces sommets pour fêter mes 40 ans.
La version large est, comme d'ahbitude, impeccablement réalisée et nous donne l'impression d'être avec toi au Gornergrat.
Toutes mes félicitations pour ces 400 images qui vont des Fagnes aux plus hauts sommets des Alpes et bon vent pour les 400 prochaines.

très originale cette idée pour la 400ème, la version large est magnifique.
J'aime bien ta gestion de la partie "humaine" en les plongeant dans le noir, du coup on ne voit rien que du beau :)
Et le Cervin au fond est toujours aussi majestueux.
Bravo et continues à nous régaler avec tes photos de montagne.

Une photographie fantastique avec un niveau de qualité très élevé !
La chose la plus impressionnante dans cette image, c'est effectivement ce galcier qui s'écoule le long de cette gigantesque vallée ! La lumière est parfaite poour faire resortir les contours du glacier et des montagnes environnantes !

Wow, and wow again, my idea of heaven. Definitely, and the large version is perfectly proportioned, some people kkep their images extremely large at the expense of image quality, this one is perfectly optimized.

This is a really good shot Didier, and congratulations for your 400th post here :)
I do like the composition with the glacier lying in the front and the Matterhorn in the back.
The color of the sky is really beautifull also.

By the way, for Didier and other who like this region, I posted today also (by chance) another panorama of Matterhorn and surrondings... its here:
Selfish advertisement... (I know, but the coincidence of 2 panoramas of the very same region at the same time is to much to miss the occasion)

Congratulations for reaching yet another TE milestone! You have chosen an excellent photo to celebrate. The stitch is perfect with no visible signs and the detail in the large version is incredible. It's a good idea to show these mountains in panorama form and to label them. I hadn't realised before how the Matterhorn rises on its own. Well done

Ca c'est fameux pour une 400e.
Rarement vu ces sommets si bien photographiés et rassemblés.
Bon, j'ai une préférence pour le Matterhorn.
Du tres bon travail de post processing qui n'altère rien à la nature intrinsèque de la photo.
Va y avoir des panos sur le Emosson.

I was browsing your Matterhorn gallary till i saw this one. A big smile here, because i wanted to upload an almost the same image today as this beauty. Mine is a bit different, but it seems we stood almost at the same place, how funny ;-)
Looking a bit longer and trying to find some flaws i have to admit that you did a terrific job here. It will be very difficult to beat this one and therefor i will wait a while before i post mine. Maybe i have to consider if i should post it anyway because this one is near to perfect. 12 vertical frames, mine is 4 horizontal frames, maybe that's the different....wish i would made also the vertical ones. Oh well, maybe next time ;-)
Thanks for showing me this one, i learned a bit in looking to such a great panoramic view...wonderful..!!!

just on the track from Henk's version with the link to yours. First my congratulations and also thanks (even a bit late) for the 400 shared moments.
Yours has more space for skiing (visible) and with the naming workshop additional TE spirit. I like the wonderful light with the good textures of rock and snow. A very good balanced composition and really a panorama to enjoy.
