Photographer's Note

Charles Dickens was born in Portsmouth. He loved walking and would often walk late at night through the city; he said it inspired him and helped him finalise his thoughts on the characters he would keep and those he would cull.

Here he sits in the corner, lounging and watching as the multitude of walkers transverse the steps and stride the steets and pound the pavement right in front of him.

I wonder what he would write about nowadays had he still been around to put pen to paper?
