Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
Sometimes, when you are looking for one thing, you see something quite unexpected.
On our walk through the woods, searching for patches of still vibrant bluebells, I came upon this sight, a dead tree, picked out in a spotlight of sunshine. It may have been dead but it was supporting other life forms, the most obvious being this lichen.
Dead trees are very valuable in other ways.
Dead wood is packed with nutrients and it’s a great home, too. There are a whole host of species that live in it, eat it and eat the things that live in it, plus, it’s good for the environment...
Dead wood slowly releases a steady flow of nutrients into the soil as it decays, feeding the plants around it. And it can make soil more stable.
Insects live in dead wood. And they in turn feed birds and mammals.
Decaying wood contains lots of holes, which provide a home for nesting birds and bats. And it’s soft and easy to excavate, so animals can make holes when they can’t find any.
There are so many uses for dead wood but on this day, it just looked beautiful in the limelight!
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Pozdrav.
Lep pogled, interesantan i dobar tekst ...
Lepo mrtvo drvo u sumi, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama i kontrastom.
Priroda radi svoj posao i nastavlja dalje.
Dobar rad, lepa fotografija.
Zelim vam lepo popodne, sve najbolje u novoj nedelji koja je pocela.

Hello Bev,
Reading your note I realize this tree is a real local hero that deserves to be standing in the spotlight. But just as much as I like the warm light shining on the carpet of lichen, I like the shadows of leaves on another tree. They are like decorations created by nature. This is well spotted and the shady green background is very nice too.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Bev
To me this has the slight look of a leopard climbing up into the canopy. And you did manage to capture a few bluebells.
Nicely done.

Hello Beverley,
Your note explains very clearly why dead trees are still important in the forest.
Besides the few bluebells we see, this photo gives a very good idea of a real forest that is more than a collection of walking paths between trees.
The photo is filled with green life throughout its length.
It even seems a bit impenetrable. Probably this is slightly exaggerated.
Most of the picture is in shadow. Yet the sunlight falls in the right place.
Excellently composed, clear and sharp.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Bev,
The scene is impressive. The point of view is showing the details of the forest and of the dead tree. The light is giving good colors rendering. Have a nice day.

Hello Beverley,
It really looks as though this tree is sunning itself in the bright sunlight, which reveals the details of the tree really well and adds some nice shadows. The darker green tones in the background provide a great contrast.

Hi Bev,
Wonderful view, the big trunk is well illuminated by sunshine while most of the bushes are in shadow. Good framing. Brightest part of the tree is on the edge of overexposure though.

Hi Bev,in fact even a dead tree is very useful for the life of other species, I really like your notes. A difficult photo, as always happens in the woods when there are lights and shadows, the light parts of the trunk are overexposed, on the other hand you have a perfect view in the background in shadow. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Beverley.
I'm surprised that England even has any forest. But glad there are still a few pockets left. Well spotted with the tree at right in almost full sunlight. Tfs!

Hi Bev,
Yes I suppose death is something natural in the world. But of course we love the life so the death brings something sad with it even if it is a dead tree.
The tree indeed looks as if it was in the spotlight.
e have recently relatively bad weather days over here. There were few days with stunning sky and light and clarity but it was in the working week so t does not count for me at all.
Great natural composition,

Hi Bev.
Beautiful and magnificent note, which puts our focus of attention to see this wonderful composition with different eyes, the old trunk of the dead tree looks imposing and still standing, ideal as it stands out with that ray of sunlight on the lush greenery of the forest, the moss and other forms of life have their place.
Great color that brings out the details of the image, the sharpness is excellent and the lighting is splendid.
Very good work. I like very much.
You have a good day. Very best regards.
Luis.
