Photographer's Note
With her impressive recent view of the Lincoln Cathedral interior (click here to see it), Malgo (emka) has provoked me to upload a photo from inside of this magnificent temple as well.
Lincoln Cathedral Vaults
One major architectural feature of Lincoln Cathedral are the spectacular vaults. The varying vaults within the cathedral are said to be both original and experimental. The vaults especially, clearly define the experimental aspect seen at Lincoln. There are several different kinds of vaults that differ between the nave, aisles, choir, and chapels of the cathedral. Along the North Aisle there is a continuous ridge rib with a regular arcade that ignores the bays. Meanwhile, on the South Aisle there is a discontinuous ridge rib that puts an emphasis on each separate bay. The North West Chapel has quadripartite vaults and the South Chapel has vaults that stem from one central support columns. The use of sexpartite vaults allowed for more natural light to enter the cathedral through the clerestory windows, which were placed inside of each separate bay. Saint Hugh's Choir exhibits extremely unusual vaults. It is a series of asymmetrical vaults that appear to almost be a diagonal line created by two ribs on one side translating into only a single rib on the other side of the vault. This pattern divides up the space of the vaults and bays, perfectly placing the emphasis on the bays. The chapter house vaults are also interesting. It is a decagonal building with a single, central column that twenty ribs rise from. Each separate area of Lincoln can be identified solely by the different vaults of the space. Each vault, or each variation of the vault, is fresh and original. They illustrate innovative thinking and great creativity.

Cześc mariusz,
Haha, rzutem na taśmę jeszcze jedno zdjecie przed wyjazdem :). Fantastyczne sklepienie i idealny kadr. Rzeczywiście w prawym górnym rogu żarówka sie przepaliła i jak ja teraz zmienić? Super kompozycja. Fajne kolory. Doskonałe pod każdym wzgledem.
Pozdrawiam serdecznie

Hi Mariusz,
How nice that you have linked your photograph and note to the three photographs which Malgo uploaded just yesterday. And interesting that you took this picture just last week while Malgo took hers four years ago!
As always, you've written an interesting and informative note and also given us a beautiful photograph to accompany it. And now I'm looking in vain for the letters "W.L. PARIS" - but I don't see them. Perhaps Malgo's detailed picture of the roof vaults was taken in a different part of this magnificent cathedral?
And another thing here is something which almost fills me with fear - the sight of that missing or broken bulb - I fear that I might be the one asked to climb a very, very tall stepladder to replace it - oh, no!
But, despite my misgivings, this is a stunningly beautiful photograph with a fine strong symmetrical composition, lovely light and colours and exquisite details and sharpness - a perfect complement to Malgo's images of yesterday.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Mariusz,
Last night, I browsed the 68 photographs from Lincoln; now there are 70!
Today, you have shown us a more artistic aspect of the cathedral, rather than a structural one. It just shows, no matter what your aspirations, if you look, you will always find something of interest, something different.
This is a very beautiful pattern, perfectly symmetrical apart from the missing light bulb! (You are demonstrating your detecting powers, noticing something like that!) It is a very unusual capture from a church or cathedral and, I think, that is why we like it so much.
I like how you have linked together the different shots from Lincoln, creating a sort of repartee between yourself and Malgo. I/m sure you will have inspired others to visit this attractive, ancient city.
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hello Mariusz,
Beautiful photo of the impressive interior of the cathedral. The construction of its huge arches and other decorations can be admired in all its splendour. The missing light is a wonderful detail! :-)

Hello Mariusz,
This has become a splendid composition thanks to the perfect vertical angle of the shot and the tight crop. Without the assistance of the note it could even have been a bit puzzling; the kind of picture where your eyes and brain have to adjust for a few seconds to understand what you are looking at. It's a very clever photo and you made an amusing observation of the missing might bulb.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Mariusz,
Fabulous returning pattern on view upwards to the ceiling of the cathedral.
This looks simple - but is not so, variable outside light with bulbs on, however,it is a fine lighting collected on.
My best regards,
Ike

Une photo parfaite. La symétrie est impeccable et l'illumination du plafond fait ressortir les très belles couleurs de l'ensemble.

Hello Mariusz
A terrific architecture shot and that great title is the crowning element here. Searching for that particular bulb adds fun to architectural splendour. Best of both worlds!
Congratulations & tfs!

Hi Marius,
The circles of stars remind me of the European Union flag. I hope Greece is not the missing lightbulb! A fine, ncek craning upward pov showing the wonderful patterns and repetition of the vaulted ceiling arches. Tfs.

Hello Mariusz.
Perfect framing the roof of the cathedral, with a book .... symmetry is a very beautiful and difficult capture, is almost the best lie on the floor face up ....
Nice color, in these natural tones.
Too much sharpness, such as lighting are great.
Well taken photo. I like
Enjoy a good day.
Best wishes and see you soon.
Luis.

This issing lightbulb became the central theme, very interesting. Since you mentioned it in the title, we go over all the photo to look for it. and the ceiling looks fantastic. Well done, great light management and framing. Have a nice week!

Ciao dear Mariusz
Wow, this is a wonderful photo, I love the wide-angle and tight framing. If you hadn't pointed it out, I wouldn't have noticed the missing light bulb, but I like the fact it's missing, adding a touch of non-uniformity to a flawless image. Well done and I congratulate you on a superb job.
Warmest wishes
