The London Eye, a photo from London, England

Photographer's Note

I took this photo in the beginning of a tourist cruise across the Thames towards Greenwich, when the famous London wheel offered me a visual very attractive angle and a nice framing. This usual cloudy sky was creating the grey and humid atmosphere that the whole people associate with this beautiful city. I think that it provides more character to the image.

Information: The London Eye, also known as Millennium Wheel, is a wheel and viewing-point of 135 m high placed at the western end of Jubilee Gardens, in the South Bank of the Thames, Lambeth's London district, between the bridges of Westminster and Hungerford. The wheel is close to the County Hall and opposite to the offices of the Defense Department.
Finished the works it in 1999 and opened the public in March, 2000, it was the bigger one of the world up to the opening of Nanchang's Star in May, 2006 and the later Singapore Flyer in 2008.

The London Eye was designed by the architects Frank Anatole, Nic Bailey, Steve Chilton, Malcolm Cook, Mark Sparrowhawk, Julia Barfield and David Marks.

Tomé esta foto al inicio de un crucero turístico a través del Támesis hacia Greenwich, cuando la famosa noria de Londres me ofreció un ángulo visual y un encuadre muy atractivos. El cielo nublado tan habitual creaba la atmósfera gris y húmeda que toda la gente asocia a esta bella ciudad. Yo pienso que eso proporciona más carácter a la imagen.

Información: El London Eye ('Ojo de Londres'), también conocido como Millennium Wheel ('Noria del milenio'), es una noria-mirador de 135 m situada sobre el extremo occidental de los Jubilee Gardens, en el South Bank del Támesis, distrito londinense de Lambeth, entre los puentes de Westminster y Hungerford. La noria está junto al County Hall y frente a las oficinas del Ministerio de Defensa.
Finalizadas la obras en 1999 y abierto al público en marzo de 2000, fue la mayor del mundo hasta la apertura de la Estrella de Nanchang en mayo de 2006 y la posterior Singapore Flyer en 2008.

El London Eye fue diseñado por los arquitectos Frank Anatole, Nic Bailey, Steve Chilton, Malcolm Cook, Mark Sparrowhawk, Julia Barfield y David Marks.

It's the case of 1/2 is more impactful than the whole eye! Excellent viewpoint with superb attention to detail of tis famous icon, looks like a massive bicycle wheel hub which reminds me that I must get the spokes on my bike tuned! It's neat and clean shot with excellent clarity, colours and contras. Lovely snap, Congrats.

I see you had a typical gloomy weather day in London too :)
well, its a nice shot of the Eye, its an angle that we don't often get to see, from the water.

I also like that its cut in the frame, with the centre spoke still showing. fun shot

Bonne idée de cadrage, à défaut d'avoir la roue dans son intégralité, la vue de cette partie seulement donne un bon impact visuel, c'est bien présenté.

Inspite the grey sky that prevailed, a fine clear picture of the big-wheel (half is enough...I mean, to appreciate its size) and good contrast against the city buildings.
White cruise-boat is a nice object addition.

A very attractive composition with the half circle (or a bit more) of the giant wheel occupying the biggest part of the image.
The 'silver barracuda' is placed well on the picture.

Muy buena composicion, con esta presentacion de uno de los elementos mas representativos de la ciudad el famoso "Ojo", aqui has creado un bonito conjunto, con parte de su estructura, los modernos edificos detras y el ferry que le da un toque marinero muy bonito.
A pesar del dia gris, una agradable gama de colores suaves, muy buena iluminacion y una excelente nitidez.
Que disfruteis del domingo, y buen comienzo de semana.

O barco parece tão pequeno ao pé da roda gigante! O enquadramento está perfeito e a luz ficou muito boa, mesmo com as nuvens.

Me gusta esta escena, con el gran Ojo de Londres, y un barco en el río. Un cielo nublado no me molesta; a veces tiene más carácter que un cielo perfectamente azul. Me gusta el encuadre, también.
