Photographer's Note
Hello Everyone,,
I wonder if others have been like me, with lots to fit in before Christmas and not so much time to spend sharing photographs!
Anyway, with a few hours spare, here goes!
This is Barton Tower.
I visited it with a friend, delivering flowers for a Christmas Wedding.
The tower was built in the 13th century as a hunting lodges and the principle seat of administration for Barden hunting forest. Henry Clifford, the Shepherd Lord, rebuilt the hunting lodge in the late 15th century and made it his principle residence. In 1515 he built the Priest House and the chapel nearby.
Though the lodge fell into disrepair, it was renovated and rebuilt by Lady Anne Clifford in the 1650s.
The tower is now a very interesting ruin but the Priest's House and the chapel have been sensitively renovated and are used as very atmospheric settings for weddings and wedding receptions.
I will add a w/s showing outer views of the modernised buildings and later will give a glimpse inside.
Thank you for your interest, Bev :-)

Hi Bev,certainly the location is impressive, getting married and having lunch next to the ruins of this magnificent hunting lodge is not an everyday thing. An excellent idea is to renovate the chapel and the priest's house in order to offer this service, and as I see in the WS there is no shortage of "customers" ... Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Bev,
That's quite a hunting lodge, I would say. Some people had great requirements. Now a magnificent ruin remains, and it certainly looks good from this angle towards the end of the day. The notes and the WS explain how it provides a great atmosphere to a wedding and maybe other kinds of important family events. The priest's house seen in WS #2 is also a beautiful building. I really like the light you captured in the main photo.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Beverley,
three pictures that show these old stone buildings at their best. A wedding held here would be wonderful, such a beautiful setting.
I vaguely recall a TV programme some years ago, where the owners were planning to renovate the buildings on this site.
Was it the end of the afternoon when this was taken? The light suggests a setting sun.
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Bev,
The point of view is showing a double perspectibe of the architecture of the Barton Tower. The light is giving nice tints to the colors. I am wondering if the site will be able to hold a reception with omicron vatiant, in my province more restrictions are starting today. Have a nie day.

Hello Bev,
I also have a lot of preparation but I returned rather lazy from my last trip. Somehow I have no Christmas mood. Usually, I had a high Christmas tree. This year I haven't bought one yet and I do not know if I will have it. Beautiful ruins it this tower.
Best regards MAlgo
Returning to Poland, all the passengers coming from outside the Schengen area must do a test for Covid or be in quarantine for 14 days, even when they are three times vaccinated.

Good morning Beverley,
We can only imagine a wedding ceramony going on in such an ancient place.
Beautifully managed a whole view of the old lodge, massively built during the 16th century, has a prominent presence on the scene.
Have a nice new day,
Ike

by the name I guessed it was an abbey, but reading your note it wasn't a religious building as I can see because its shapes. in some aspects looks more like a castle with few windows.very interesting sample os british architecture. Nice images.
here I am dealing with the store facing the christmas week, not so much costumers, the big economical crisis we are facing it mixed with a terrible drought where we are losing ours plantations. anyway, many hard job in the christmas eve.

Hi Bev,
Nice photos well presenting the ruins. You had a lovely light there and the final result is quite eye pleasing. I was surprised to notice that it was taken with a phone. The quality is fantastic especially at such a challenging low light situation.
Great reportage,

Hi Bev
A substantial ruin taken from a good angle. The stonework looks great in the large view. The WS photo shows the potential for a very atmospheric wedding.

Hello Bev,
There are no ruins like this over here, so it's always nice to see some, and this would definitely be a unique setting for a wedding. The structure looks very nice in between the green grass and blue sky. The wedding must have been magical. :-) Have a very Merry Christmas!

Dear Beverley,
So a wedding at Christmas Eve? You served us with a good documentation of that idea.
I wish you a Merry Christmas and thank you for your kind words under my latest photo!

Hi Bev,
Not much incentive for me either to rush around taking photos when there are electrical storms, hot humid weather and rapidly escalating numbers of both Delta and Omicron after the border was opened with NSW & Victoria. Most Australians have been double vaccinated but I wish they would have waited until everyone has had their booster shot. Mine is due in late January mid February. Good sharpness and shadow detail with well managed backlight. Tfs!

Hi Bev
What a fabulous place for a wedding! Impressive architecture, including what we can see in WS.
Yes, my Christmas is an absolute nightmare trying to do too many things, espacially juggling family matters in Poland and a job and my beloved home in the UK.
Best wishes
Kasia
