Photographer's Note
Locomotive 45212 is seen on shed at Grosmont. This is the main servicing facility for the locomotives on the preserved North Yorkshire Moors Railway. This shot was taken hand held and took about four goes using a fairly long exposure but hand held! I had been walking around the line that day didn't have a tripod with me. The locomotive is an ex LMS class 5MT popularly known as a "Black Five". The steam was simmering from the locomotive either having just finished a run or in preparation for another outing.

Hi Martin,
Interesting, although somewhat unorganised shot from an engine shed. Exposure is good and smoke adds interest. Looking at the image data, f/8 and ISO 50 seem inappropriate settings for a handheld shot on low light. But as long as you got it sharp it doesn't matter.

I have many shots of this engine on the Great Central Line in Leicestershire Martin .. you have done a first class job taking this shot handheld .. your exposure is perfect and clarity spot on .. maybe cloning out the white bottom left, as it is distracting but apart from that fine work indeed. I see you share the steam passion like myself.
