Photographer's Note
This is the first photo of my scanned image series. This is the firts because this is the oldest, I took this photo when I was 11. There might be similar and much better photos of this enchanting small castle, but that's MINE! :) I dedicate it to my friend rushfan2112!
I would be pleased if you told me your opinions about the photo!
Sited atop the volcanic mound known as Beblowe Craig, Lindisfarne Castle is one of the most distinct and picturesque features of the Island and can be seen for many miles around.
Following the dissolution of the monasteries by Henry VIII, the Castle was built in the 1550's using stones from the demolished Priory. In 1901, Edward Hudson (founder of Country Life magazine) negotiated its purchase from the Crown and in 1902 Sir Edwin Lutyens (the well-known architect) began the conversion to create the Edwardian country house you see today. The Walled Garden (originally the Fort's vegetable garden but re-designed by Gertrude Jekyll in 1911 as part of the conversion) lies to the north of the castle some 500m away. Her plans were recreated by the National Trust and planted for the 2003 season.

Taken at age 11 shows a real talent for composition. It does look rather over saturated and has a slight magenta cast. Both may be the result of scanning, but both can be corrected.
It's still a striking image.
Good notes as well.

Marton,
I like this image a great deal. Very cool scene with great colors - although perhaps maybe too much magenta? Great metering and composition though!
Thanks for sharing,
Brian

Hi Marci,
this is a great one. The two predominant colors (green and blue) are well balanced. Perfect DOF and perfective. A simple and effective shot with not too much elements but a complete composition. Very good work!

Carlos

Hi Marton,
Good strong colors and sharpness; excellent quality for a scanned image! Did you use a 35mm film scanner?
The composition is a bit boring with the castle in the middle and you are also to far away. The subject is to distant. I really do love the quality of this. TFS. Gilbert

Hey Marci, thank you so much! I love this place and you've got a super shot. I'm not always a fan of the main object being so central but the grass, sky and dry-stone wall balance it out exceptionally well. Very best wishes. Paul.
