Photographer's Note
Good Morning Friends,
Please click here, to see a larger, sharper view of the photograph.
This is Warkworth Castle entrance. When it was serving a defensive purpose, there would have had a large drawbridge to cover the gap across the moat. Now, there is a permanent bridge to allow easy access to the many visitors.
It is possible to see the effective use of the moat. At one time, it would have been considerably deeper than this and probably filled with water.
To discover the history of the castle, please see my previous post here or if you would like much more information, there is a wonderful 'Teacher's Pack' here which not only details the complete history of the castle but, also, supplies cross-curricular advice.
I will add a second photograph, as a w/s, to show the opposite view of the castle, its walls and keep.
I wish you a happy week, Bev :-)

Hello Beverly,
Wonderful soft somewhat filtered sunlight on this beautiful ruins. If this was the gate, the place must have been really huge.
thanks and regards,

Bonjour Beverly,
Elle tient encore presque solidement cette porte monumentale. Tu as trouvé un point de vue très original qui montre à la fois sa solidité ainsi que sa faiblesse.J'aime bien le ciel gris qui donne un côté dramatique à l'ensemble.
Amicalement

Hi Bev,
One more interesting presentation from Northumberland. I have already several spots in this county on my list of places to visit, among them Alnwick Castle near from this one, which I also did not visit yet. Waiting for better weather though, which may never come this year anymore....
Beautiful work, really encouraging to visit,
M
You had a lovely light over there, although it may have lasted just few moments. The structure is nicely lit and the dark clouds provides a great contrast.

Hello Bev,
It's an impressive heap of stones but it's also a clever composition with a fine rhythm. I like the curves of the green hills and the opposing curve of the tree-tops. The rounded shapes of the clouds also balance the curves on the ground. The people on the bridge, among them one in pink and another one in red, also enliven the view. The warm light is very attractive and it is also a technically perfect photo.
Kind regards,
Gert

Most effective perspective from the side of the castle, Beverly, as we can distinct every brick that built on. Fine light and super clarity, contrast of the ancient walls against the grey clouds. The WS could be posted as main photo as well.
My cong.'s for that, an impressive photojob done.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hello Bev,
The well preserved gateway is illuminated by perfect sunlight, under a mostly cloudy sky. The visitors offer human presence along with a useful red "chop mark" (evocative of Oriental scrolls paintings). The stonework is seen with wonderful resolution, each stone in place, and the manicured moat, I feel as if I am there personally. Years ago there were small glossy touristic booklets produced by Pitkin. I don't know if the company or the booklets are still in existence, but this beauty would could have been enshrined on the cover of the Northumberland edition.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Bev,
The little wooden bridge at right with a few sightseers to add scale, makes a fine focal point and counterbalances the stone castle at right. Good sharpness and a dramatic bg sky with a good tonal range in the clouds. Tfs.

HI Bev,i like a lot your choice of point of view showing us the entrance by side and not in front,a large view perfect to show us the bridge too and to take this spectacle in the best light and under a beautiful dark big cloud! Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Howdy Bev,
Different and interesting Warkworth Castle view, with the moat bridge connecting to the Gatehouse, impressive walls, and the church behind. Good resolution and lighting enhance the textures of the stone block construction.
Good job,
Cheers,

Hi Bev
another fine shot of this Castle.
I know i say it everytime, but its so fun to try to think what it would have been like to see this place, to live in this place in its prime.
try to imagine living in a castle today, with the living standars of hundreds of years ago! yikes!
grab me an extra blanket! lol
another set of awesome clouds, great light and a fine pov with this excellent subject.

Hello Bev,
a fine description with exquisite sharpness and subtle, atmospheric shadows. We could count every stone of the ruined antique structure, which stands proudly and receives guests. I like how gatehouse and bridge share the two vertical halves of the frame, the people offer interesting animation and scale. The colours are lovely, it's great how the backdrop adds drama without slealing the scene. I appreciate the different point of view in the workshop too. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
Ourania
