Photographer's Note
Bamburgh Castle stands on an outcrop of rock right on the coast of north Northumberland, in the North East of England. The building that can be seen today is mostly of (relatively) modern construction, built within the last 200 years, but it stands on the site of a much older building. Bamburgh was home to the ancient Kings of Northumbria in the 7th Century BC.
The rock on which Bamburgh stands is part of the 'Whin Sill' - a volcanic outcrop of rock that stretches many miles across Northumberland - at its eastern end it forms the rock of Bamburgh and those of the Farne Islands, just out of shot to the left of this picture. Further West, Hadrian's Wall runs along the top of the Whin Sill escarpment.
This shot is scanned from Fuji Velvia 50 Slide film, taken on a late summer evening in September. A strong wind was blowing when I took the shot - I held my jacket out in my arms to try and shelter the tripod during a long exposure of around 10 or 15 seconds. A 0.9 (3 stop) ND graduated filter has helped to balance the exposure of sky and foreground.

Great picture with great depth in it. A bit pitty that the background is a little unsharp. But still well done, Eugene

I agree totally with Martine. Your shot is really fantastic.
Composition and light are absolutely wonderful.
Ce qui fait la grande force de cette photo, à mon avis, c'est le point de fuite, qui dirige admirablement bien le regard au centre de la photo.
Bien joué.

Simply put: fantastic!
I Love how the black rocks in the foreground almost seem like they are alive and how we can see through the water into the rocks below. The castle in the back makes for a wonderful subject far in the distance, bringing human created stone buildings close to the stones we see in the foreground.
Perfect shot! Congrats!

What a picture! The water, the rocks, the castle, the movement, the sky, I love it! I like the way you positionned yourself to get the angle you show to put almost the water as the central element and the castle a secondary element. On the other hand, you put the castle on a pedestal thus giving it great important. Really well done.
