Dawn July 1st, a photo from Devon, England

Photographer's Note

An early start rewarded me with this shot of mist across the rolling fields of West Devon under a lightening sky.
One of the more prominent features of Dartmoor is the tiny church of St Michael de Rupe perched on top of rocky outcrop known as Brentor,which is just visable on the skyline.

Beautiful light on the valley close to the sun! Really beautiful shades of colors of the sky and landscape! I might have opened the aperture by one stop, however the photo is very beautiful even so!

Hi leslie,

In the beginning of July you must get up very early to see such a view. but then you are rewarded really. Interesting morning light here, at the bottom still dark, with the first gold, above blue sky.. really romantic atmosphere created. Well done.

I'm not quite sure hpw I missed this one when you first posted it - it's a stunner.

In my opinion, it's the lighting which makes this one. I suppose, by definition, that's true of every photograph, but here you have captured some very special light. Beautiful colours, composition and sharpness.

P.S. I love that sky but do I detect a little "noise" or "grain" in it? Did you use a high ISO for this one or did you use a tripod and a long exposure?

Hello Leslie - A superb dawn, I love the way the mist hugs the contours of the land and the FG trees stand out almost in a silhouette. Your framing with large expance of sky also appeals to me. An atmospheric and simply beautiful shot of Devon. TFS and warm regards Rosemary

We get here the same color as the old paintings of the great masters three hundred year ago.
What a pleasant color and simple but wonderful picture.

Bonjour Leslie,
un moment bien chois dansla journée, avec des lumières efficaces sur la gauche et déjà la nuit sur la droite. Campagnes avec beaucou^de profondeur , qui donnent envie d'y gambader.
Un cadrage au top.
