Photographer's Note
The remains of a house, weather beaten but still standing.
I particularly like the contrast in textures between the long grass and the menacing looking sky.

The grass looks like a painting of van Goch, and the contrast betwwen the gray sky and yelloe grass is beautiful. the climax of this dramatic scene is the sun light on the walls.
beautiful, dramatic, strong shot!

Abeautiful vision. Your print seems a little high on the right side, maybe one degree of rotation.

BEAUTIFUL! the colors are great with the light on the grass and wondeful dark sky. Even without the house it would be great. I always wonder how people can take those kind of shots, with so much depth and no loss of details.

That's really a great shot ! Looks like something mythic thanks to the dark sky and the beautiful light.
This house is a wonderful subject for this "abandoned" theme...

Fabulous colours and ambiance! I almost feel the wind when I look at the grass!
The contrast between the sky and the pale light that falls on the house give a very good feeling to this photo. It enhances the lonliness of the house among such hostile environment.

Excellent light and conmposition. Gives a good feeling of desolation. I tried various crops on it to see if it was any better - but I couldn't improve on the original.

This is a truly beautiful subject, and reminds me of how much I miss my autumn escapes to the Highlands. I've posted a workshop, where I simply cropped the image to give the house more prominence, and ran the image through NeatImage to reduce some pixellation in the clouds.

I like Ronner's workshop, but I happen to also like the foreground as it seems to place the structure more in its environment as well as help set a strong mood.

Stunning colours, Piotr, and well composed. I think it's a bit softer than it might be: looks like you've sharpened already (at least, I see it on the near grass and the skyline). Maybe you could do a bit more if you applied it locally. Clouds seem a bit grainy too - that's odd if you were using raw mode. Anyway - it's a really great image!

Waht a splendid shot!
I like very much the sense of desolation,
and warm solitude.
the wind effect is fantatic, also the impresive storm in the background.
Almost perfect colors, and contrast, very good light! Very good definition too.

The image of Highlands I got in my mind is totally represented in this image.
Good work... the contrast between sunny foreground and cloudy/dark background is very dramatic.

House given up in desert moors... and well me I want to rebuild this small house and to live in this imposing landscape, with the colors worthy of a pallet of painter. A sky and a relief to make fade of desire all the photographers! It is splendid!

Great colours of the sun in this "dark-weathered" picture.
Very nice, Piotr !
CarmenSofia (96) 2004-06-14 23:15
It's an impresive shot, you have a lot into it,movement, still, wind, steady also light in contract with a dramatic sky. The remain of the house make it melancholic.

Great light, good scene. The highlands of Scotland can be fantastic once your mental attitude accepts that you will be beaten by the weather and that is part of the adventure. It looks like you were with the place, the image, the light at the moment and it shows.

This is Moine House in Sutherland, roughly in the middle of the north coast.
I have photographed this house every year for the last 3 years and have absolutely nothiing approaching this shot!!!
The foreground light and the brooding sky are excellent.
Well cptured.

De très jolies couleurs chaudes, un ciel chargé et assez menacant où les nuages sont parfaitement dessinés. POV excellente.

Again that sky looks so low and dramatic and the abandoned building is a well found subject.I also like the colours in here especialy the redish browns in the background.

Abandoned house, abandoned soul !
This tremendous scenery reminds me northern peatbogs of county Mayo, in Ireland. It is very similar.

Hi Piotr
You can feel the desolation in this shot the way that the grass is slanting and the colouds are so dark. Nice details of the green grass in front of the remains and the meander of the river which gives it more depth. Pretty light.
