I took this photo during our urban walk across the area of Buckingham's Palace, where this impressive monument is located. To take photos in this area is a bit complicated, due to the presence of a lot of people, but the beauty of the ensemble, and the blue sky with some white clouds, was deserving the effort.

Wiki: The Victoria Memorial is a monument to Queen Victoria, located at the end of The Mall in London, and designed and executed by the sculptor Sir Thomas Brock. Designed in 1901, it was unveiled on 16 May 1911, though it was not completed until 1924. It was the centrepiece of an ambitious urban planning scheme, which included the creation of the Queen’s Gardens to a design by Sir Aston Webb, and the refacing of Buckingham Palace (which stands behind the memorial) by the same architect.
Like the earlier Albert Memorial in Kensington Gardens, commemorating Victoria's consort, the Victoria Memorial has an elaborate scheme of iconographic sculpture. The central pylon of the memorial is of Pentelic marble, and individual statues are in Carrara marble and gilt bronze. The memorial weighs 2,300 tonnes and is 104 ft wide. In 1970 it was listed at Grade I.
At the top of the central pylon stands a gilded bronze Winged Victory, standing on a globe and with a victor's palm in one hand.

Tomé esta foto durantre nuestro paseo urbano a través de la zona del Palacio de Buckingham, donde se ubica este impresionante monumento. Tomar fotos en esta zona es bastante complicado, debido a la presencia de mucha gente, pero la belleza del conjunto, y el cielo azul con algunas nubes blancas, merecía el esfuerzo.

Wiki: El Victoria Memorial es un monumento a la Reina Victoria situado al final de The Mall en Londres, Reino Unido, diseñado y realizado por el escultor Sir Thomas Brock. Concebido en 1901, fue inaugurado el 16 de mayo de 1911, aunque no se completó hasta 1924. Fue la pieza central de un ambicioso proyecto urbanístico, que también comprendía la creación de los Queen’s Gardens según el diseño de Sir Aston Webb, y la renovación de la fachada del Palacio de Buckingham (situado detrás del memorial) por el mismo arquitecto.
Como el Albert Memorial, situado en Kensington Gardens, que conmemora el consorte de Victoria, el Victoria Memorial tiene un complejo significado iconográfico. El pilono central del monumento es de mármol pentélico y las estatuas son de mármol de Carrara y bronce dorado. El monumento pesa 2300 toneladas y tiene 32 m de ancho. En 1970 fue declarado un monumento clasificado de Grado I.
En la cima del pilono central hay una Victoria Alada de bronce dorado, situada sobre un globo terráqueo y con una palma de vencedor en una mano.
