In one of the side corridors of Covent Garden, where several shops are located, I was struck by its ceiling, made of a mirror with a wavy surface, which created a visual effect and some distortions of its reflections really interesting for any photographer.

In WORKSHOP , you can see a more open plan to appreciate the place as a whole.

Covent Garden and its history:
The history of the current square of Covent Garden began in the seventeenth century, when the land passed from the hands of the monks of Westminster to the property of the Counts of Bedford. In 1631 work began on converting the cultivation area into a public square.
In the year 1660 a large market of flowers, fruits and vegetables was created that made the neighbourhood famous and, at the beginning of the 19th century, the appearance of the square was modified by the construction of three covered pavilions that came to house the market .
In 1974, the market building was rehabilitated to be transformed into a commercial area that has remained to this day, attracting both tourists and Londoners with its bohemian and welcoming atmosphere.

Currently, Covent Garden continues to be a very special neighbourhood, animated at any time of the day. In the area you can enjoy the fashionable shops located on Floral Street, or the small stalls of the master craftsmen of the covered commercial area.
It is also possible to spend a pleasant afternoon having coffee in any of the many places, visiting the Transport Museum of London or going to one of the functions of the Royal Opera House. If you want to visit the area on Thursday, the Piazza is filled with sweet stalls and artisan cakes, and some other that prepare delicious food at the time.

En uno de los pasillos laterales del Covent Garden, donde se ubican diversas tiendas, me llamó la atención su techo, hecho de un espejo con una superficie ondulada, que creaba un efecto visual y unas distorsiones de sus reflejos verdaderamente interesantes para cualquier fotógrafo.

Covent Garden y su historia:
La historia de la actual plaza de Covent Garden comenzó en el siglo XVII, cuando el terreno pasó de manos de los monjes de Westminster a ser propiedad de los condes de Bedford. En 1631 comenzaron las obras para convertir la zona de cultivo en una plaza pública.
En el año 1660 se creó un gran mercado de flores, frutas y verduras que hizo famoso el barrio y, a principios del siglo XIX, el aspecto de la plaza se vio modificado por la construcción de tres pabellones cubiertos que pasaron a alojar el mercado.
En 1974 el edificio del mercado fue rehabilitado para ser transformado en una superficie comercial que se ha mantenido hasta nuestros días, atrayendo tanto a turistas como a londinenses con su aire bohemio y acogedor.

En la actualidad Covent Garden continúa siendo un barrio muy especial, animado a cualquier hora del día. En la zona se puede disfrutar de las tiendas de moda situadas en Floral Street, o bien de los pequeños puestos de los maestros artesanos de la superficie comercial cubierta.
También es posible pasar una tarde agradable tomando un café en cualquiera de los múltiples locales, visitar el Museo de los Transportes de Londres o acudir a una de las funciones de la Royal Opera House. Si podéis visitar la zona un jueves, la Piazza se llena de puestos de dulces y pasteles artesanos, y algunos otros que preparan comida deliciosa en el momento.
