Photographer's Note
Today is a very important day for future of the United Kingdom. General Election Day. I think I understand why people over the world vote unpredictably. There is nothing to choose from. Too often we vote against something rather than for something. One of the candidates says he is concerned that EU citizens, like myself, feel in the UK like at home, and he wants to change it… The alternative to it is a candidate who believes that my country Poland belongs to the Russian sphere of influence…
Well, I am not eligible to vote anyway. I just wish my British colleagues: please don’t hurt yourselves!
This is my fifth photo from the Fountains Abbey. CLICK HERE to see all of them. A great example of how badly a country can be devastated by narrow-minded internal politics.

Hello Mariusz!
I'm afraid this might be the view of an average British home a few decades after brexit - if there should be one. The only thing I still believe in is the British common sense, which they do have, compared with us Germans who are prone to think and reduce everything to first principles. With their possession certain, they seem not to think at all.
To be honest: I wonder about the Houses of Parliament's self-demolition and the overt rejection of obvious thruth by Mr. Boris Johnson.
BTW: A fine capture in best light of what once had been great.
And the British should not forget what the Poles did for them during WW II, only to start with the Few, among which there were many excellent Polish pilots.
Sven.

Hello Mariusz
I don’t hope that these ruins symbolize Great Britain after today's elections.
But it is not a simple choice for the British. Due to the amount of uncontrolled facts and opinions and the unclear points of view, it seems that you are completing a toto form instead of a ballot paper.
Excellent presentation
Have a nice day, groet Rob

Bonjour Mariusz,
Quelle jolie construction d'image. Bon choix de point de vue et de cadrage vertical qui permet d'inclure la belle tour en arrière plan. Les textures sont magnifiques.
Amicalement

Hello Mariusz,
I wish the British people a lot of wisdom today. This is a wonderful photo of the old abbey, the sunlight was perfect and every detail and texture in the photo is seen so well. Very good composition, too.

Hi Mariusz,it's nice to see how foreign people living in UK as you think about the today elections. In fact with Brexit there isn't respect to foreign citizens, and there are a lot of italians too working in England. The pic is beautiful as usual, but today the theme is different and very important. Have a nice evening and thanks and excuse me for my Always bad english..ehehe..i hope that you understand what i think,Luciano

Hello Mariusz, a thought provoking message to go alongside your picture from Fountains Abbey.
I only hope that each elector will think carefully before putting their mark on the ballot paper.
We will just have to wait for the result, but it does worry me.
There are so many opportunities at Fountains Abbey for a photographer, and here you have included lots of different parts of the ruins.
All in excellent sharpness.
Kind regards, Jean.

hello Mariusz, you choose an appropriate image for your political post, ruins indeed testify always as history flow as everything else, nothing is forever except maybe hate and fear about the strangers, it looks as an antropological issue that can not change any time soon..

Good morning Mariusz,
Well ! I feel numb after reading the final results ! What can be said now, except come what may !...
At least this is a beautiful picture of the ruin with great POV, lighting and colours.
Let's just hope that the UK won't be in that state in 5 centuries ! Who knows !
Kind regards.
Marie-Louise.

Bonjour, cher Mariusz,
Dès que je vois des vieilles pierres, je suis attiré tel un aimant pour aller voir de plus près!
Un cadrage parfait pour rêver, imaginer, découvrir, apprendre et essayer de comprendre !
Amitiés.

Hello Mariusz,
Your photograph suggests that voting is in ruins!
You could be right!
There are pluses and minuses whichever way we vote.
I did vote with my head and my heart, which for once were in agreement! It would seem most didn't agree with me!
Your photograph shows a really crisp close-up of the ruins.
The lighting is excellent and the the textures almost palpable.
Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)
Like most people, I appreciate the variety of people and the skills are are in this country. If you travel back in time, you will find that all countries are a mix of different races!

the image is fantastic and the ruins are marvelous despite the damages it suffered in the past. lovely use of the gate and the tower with excellent weather too.
yes, the ones who want UK out of european union won. I guess they did a mistake, but most people of UK ever loved be isolated of the world. my brazilian friend who lives in london isn't preoccupied, she has italian, brazilian and british citizenship.
I hope this rupture won't bring you troubles.
take care

Hello Mariusz!
It's like choosing between a heart attack or cancer! I was hoping the Labour Party would get in as I do not want to see Bojo sell off the NHS to Trump, which would triple prices for ordinary Britons. Plus the Tories have had 10 years to do something but have done nothing except line the pockets of the rich. Poland hasn't belonged to the Russian sphere of influence since 1989. And was one of the first eastern block countries to openly challenge the Russians with the solidarity movements. In South Korea they have a saying that "we are a shrimp between 2 whales" (China and Japan). I see some similarity with Poland wedged between Germany & Russia. Good sharpness and punchy light contrasts. Tfs!

Hi Mariusz.
Very beautiful and impressive these ruins of the abbey, in its time of glory, must have been an impressive ensemble, a great POV.
Very beautiful color, good management of brightness and sharpness.
I wish you a Merry Christmas and All the best for the New Year 2020.
With all my love.
Luis.
P.S. I don't know if I'm going to continue uploading photos to TE, I don't know if you got to see my penultimate photo of a pair of kittens.
They erased me because they told me, that no pet photos were allowed, I replied that it was not a pet photo, they were street cats, that they had to live in the ruins of the castle, that I had previously uploaded and that the note said .
I am very indignant because I can't stand the injustices, I'm tired of seeing pictures of cats, dogs, birds and many other animals and let them pass.
So I will think about it during these Holidays and I also have the house change at the beginning of January, what encourages me is the contact with all of you .... We will see ...

Hi Mariusz
powerful and thought provoking TE post. Being Canadian and having no ties to the UK, I don't really have a stake in the vote no matter which way it turns out - or do i? hmmmm...
Do we all know for sure the consequences that will occur, now that we know the vote is to leave and the powers that be will make it happen. I don't know. Will these consequences be positive or negative...I don't know. Maybe in the near future another vote will take place and the people will vote to go BACK - its a crazy world out there. The fact the PM is best friends with Trump is scary enough! Oh...nice shot hahaha....this is certainly on my list of places to explore one day! cheers
Craig
