Good Morning Everyone,

Today, is All Hallows Eve or now called Halloween.

Halloween is non religious and had its origins in the festival of Samhain among the Celts of ancient Britain and Ireland.

During the Samhain festival the souls of those who had died were believed to return to visit their homes, and those who had died during the year were believed to journey to the otherworld.

One of these souls appeared to be rising in my own village, much to the fear of local people!

In ancient times, people set bonfires on hilltops for relighting their hearth fires for the winter and to frighten away evil spirits, and they sometimes wore masks and other disguises to avoid being recognised by the ghosts thought to be present. Enc. Britannica

I have no doubt that there will be many masked and hideous creatures visiting our house this evening!
Fortunately, I have a supply of chocolate bats and spiders, to keep them at bay!!!

Hi Bev,I have seen many things related to Halloween in these days and this is one of the most beautiful and original. A macabre theme but on which it is nice to have fun. When I was young, in Italy it was a practically unknown party, while now even here there are events and bands of kids looking for the sweet. As a countermeasure, someone changed the name on the doorbell, writing names of famous killers to avoid being disturbed ... ahaha .. Have a nice Sunday and hanks,Luciano

Hello Bev,
The Disney looking dwarfs in the background indicate that this is maybe not such a scary place. Whoever placed the skeleton here had a good sense of humour. In darkness it might scare someone, but in the daylight it just looks very funny. It's a perfectly suitable photo for today.

Halloween is a popular day in many countries. The point of view is showing the details of the remains of the skeleton. The light is giving good colors output. Have a nice day.

A pity, I would small red and blue light places on the legs.

An excellent photo for Halloween with this skeleton partly sticking out of the grass. Two two garden gnomes with their pink hats make a very nice contrast in the background.

The two garden gnomes assure me that this is not a dangerous place ... although the gnome on the right is reeling a bit.
Not easy to mow the lawn.
I wonder if these bones look appetizing to a dog.

I love Halloween! Even though my nieces and nephews couldn't join me today, I still got dressed up and walked around to see all the decorations and costumes. :-) This bony fellow seems to be having trouble rising back up; his middle section is trapped under the grass! This is a fun capture, and there are even some gnomes (or dwarfs?) in the background watching the Halloween activity. :-) Take care!

Hi Bev,
Fun Halloween theme scene showing this skeleton emerging through the grass. Good note describing how Halloween has roots in Britain though all the movies and such have made the American version more famous. It has not been a big thing in Finland but it's gaining popularity year after year.

it is a nice event in UK and USA, unfortunately some brazilian copied this alien tradition and because this I don't like when I see brazilian children playing with this, because they let our brazilian traditions at side to use the ones of other cultures. a pity.
