Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
I have just been collecting seeds from the wild flowers in my garden, ready for planting next year and it made me suddenly very aware of their importance.
Most of the seeds that I have collected would normally be dispersed by the wind shaking the stems but those in my photograph have an added advantage, they have parachutes, which can catch the wind and disperse much further.
The most common flower seeds dispersed in this way are dandelion and rosebay willow herb.
I am not totally sure what these seeds are. They were on the edge of a wild flower meadow but possibly not common to the area where I live. Maybe, someone can help identify them.
I will show a small section of the wild flower meadow as a workshop.
Have a good day, Bev :-)

Hello Bev,
This is an original and very pretty composition with a touch of abstract elements in an orderly part of nature. I really like the parachutes flying (in opposite directions!) above the grass and the neatly placed twigs. The WS is very nice too: Yellow to the left, pink to the right. Even when staring on the ground you seem to be thinking of photo opportunities.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Bev,
The grass is framing well the seeds. The point of view is showing the details of the seeds. The light is giving good colors output. Have a nice day.

Indeed unusual sight, Beverley, I can understand its importance and must say never saw such a seed with parachutes.
Interesting nature picture.
Good afternoon,

Hello Beverley, sorry but I cannot recognise the seed head; I have seen them before but don't know their name.
A lovely idea to concentrate on a close up of the seeds.
Good sharp shot.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Bev,to me they look like the seeds of thistles, purple flowers very attractive to butterflies, I think I'm pretty sure because there are a lot of them too, and few other species, like dandelions, have parachutes. An interesting post, very nice the yellow and purple mix in the WS between cardaminacea and clover. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Beverley,
This is a good and clear close-up of the seeds and their parachutes. The brown ones are well placed in the middle, surrounded by the white parts. Good sharpness and clarity.

Hello Beverley,
This is a very good close up of the wild flowers spreading their seeds.
You've nicely captured the movements of the seeds that fly away in different directions and yet still stick together as a white hairy whole.
We find more flowers in the WS, but they are in danger of being overgrown by the grass.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Bev, Like Luciano and John, I suppose it is the flower from the thistle family, for instance, Carduus crispus. Looks very beautiful. Lovely parachutes.
Best regards MAlgo

Hi Bev
Dandelions are a problem weed in Australia but I must admit that their seeds floating away make for a beautiful and interesting photo. A good tightly cropped photo. A good colourful WS too.
cheers

Hi Bev,
Excellent photo and comparison with the Ws photo, good close-up and colors contrast, interesting note about seeds and your question ... maybe our friend Malgo, specialist of plants gives the answer ? Tfs.

Hello Bev,
A nice tight crop on this motley collection of thistle seeds. Good sharpness and lighting. They look ready to disperse with the first light breeze. Tfs!

Hello Beverly,
We have similar plants around here, but my botanical knowledge is extremely limited. I wonder how soft those hairs are.
