Photographer's Note

Hello Everyone,,

I wonder if others have been like me, with lots to fit in before Christmas and not so much time to spend sharing photographs!

Anyway, with a few hours spare, here goes!

This is Barton Tower.
I visited it with a friend, delivering flowers for a Christmas Wedding.
The tower was built in the 13th century as a hunting lodges and the principle seat of administration for Barden hunting forest. Henry Clifford, the Shepherd Lord, rebuilt the hunting lodge in the late 15th century and made it his principle residence. In 1515 he built the Priest House and the chapel nearby.

Though the lodge fell into disrepair, it was renovated and rebuilt by Lady Anne Clifford in the 1650s.

The tower is now a very interesting ruin but the Priest's House and the chapel have been sensitively renovated and are used as very atmospheric settings for weddings and wedding receptions.

I will add a w/s showing outer views of the modernised buildings and later will give a glimpse inside.

Thank you for your interest, Bev :-)
