Photographer's Note
I went into Manchester this morning just to see what I could see: I wanted to try some urban photos for a change.
A cold, windy grey day made it difficult to grab many shots outside but when I went into the Triangle shopping centre I noticed this colourful wall of changing lights.
I waited until an individual walked down the stairs and took the shot: I was lucky that he was looking into space.
Oh, and he isn't blurred - it's an optical illusion caused by his thinning hair.....
And thanks to Rafal for the inspiration!

Well, this turned out very cool, Brian. The rainbow-colored illuminated wall makes a fine background to enhance the graphical impact of the stairs and the single guy looking in amazement. Compo-wise it is fine as is, might be possibly even better if the guy were two steps further up (i.e. to the left) and/or the next horizontal line below the stairs at the right were also visible. Well seen and shot.

It's beautiful, Brian, slightly other-worldly as if he just arrived at a space station. Very nice composition turning the stairs and railing into a strong diagonal. Good exposure, too--it must have been a tricky one. Regards, Ken.

Hi Brian...
I know what you mean...many of my shopping center ones were the result of looking at Rafal's work.
The colours here are great and I'm never one to say no to a little bit of human interest. His sillouhette-like presence is quite cool. This doesn' look like a shopping center; more like an art gallery actually...this is almost a little surreal. I find the lack of adverts quite strange in this environment...

Nice color and geometrical composition Brian. Expression on person's face makes it even better.

Hello Brian,
What a wonderful shot! The pastel colors are great, and so are the different lines: vertical, horizontal, and the diagonal of the staircase. I think you captured this man in the exactly the right spot, too.

Hey Brian,
The photo is great, but what I really like is the connection you made with the title. It just seems to wrap up this mans expression and the scene around him perfectly. My type of photo. Well done.

This is great Brian.
I don't know if it was possible under the circumstances, but it might have worked even better with the man and staircase as a silhouette.

Great backdrop you've found here, and this one works well in spite of maybe questionable tech. On the other hand maybe the lack of definition helps, can't decide.

Hi Brian,
seem that I've missed this masterpiece... rainbow walker... Excellent DOF work here, but what I like most is his look upwards this colourful-rainbowed (well, I know this term doesn't exist but you'll understand the meaning) "sky". It's a simple but very beautiful shot.
Have a nice week,
Tomi

Hello Brian,
browsing your site and thought I recognised this picture. But it was a shot by Chris Conway entered in this year's Digital Photographer of the Year. Saw it in tDigital Photo magazine.I think I prefer yours as your figure looks more human!
regards
Bev
