Photographer's Note

This morning (9th July 2007) i awoke at 4am, looked out my door, and saw storm clouds building, i got in my car and drove to one of my local beaches.
As i walked along the beach i could see occasional flashes of lightning to my South with the distant sound of deep booming thunder, there was no wind at all and the sea was very calm, there were no people anywhere to be seen and the feeling of being so alone with a beautiful storm and the warm sun rising behind me was just totally amazing!
I set my tripod up near a wooden breakwater (groin) and took a few long exposures, luckily this one had just what i wanted to capture! The added bonus was the moon that was just about to go behind the cloud, a few seconds later and it had gone.

I used a Sigma 18-125mm F3.5 - 5.6 DC with my Nikon D80 and i used an ND8 grad with a polarizer
