Iman Mosque, a photo from Esfahan, East

Photographer's Note

In the southern front of the square Naqsh-e-Jahan in Isfahan is the Imam Mosque, formerly Shah Mosque. This is one of the masterpieces of world architecture throughout. Construction began in 1612 and ended in 1638. The refinement of decorative art and polychrome Safavid reach some heights in this building are unsurpassed in any other building in the world.

It consists, like the buildings of its kind, a door, a front courtyard and two minarets. The door of the mosque is covered with sheets of gold and silver dating from the period of Shah Safi, successor Shah´s Abbas the Great. In the mosque there is a central courtyard surrounded by four porches and two patios lateral side.

The domes are two and are placed one above the other at a distance of 12 meters. The inscriptions on the mosque were made by famous calligraphers of the time as Alireza Abbasi, Abdul Baqi Tabrizi, Mohammad Saleh Isfahani, and Mohammad Reza Emami.

All the walls, both the walls and the domes and arches inside and outside are covered with multicolored tiles and tiles painted with floral motifs.

En el frente sur de la plaza Naqsh-e-Ŷahân de Isfahán se encuentra la Mezquita del Imán, antes denominada Mezquita del Shah. Se trata de una de las obras maestras de toda la arquitectura mundial. La construcción se inició en el año 1612 y finalizó en el 1638. El refinamiento del arte decorativo y la policromía safávida alcanzan en esta edificación unas cotas no superadas en ninguna otra construcción del mundo.

Consta, al igual que los edificios de su género, de una puerta principal, un patio delantero y dos alminares. La puerta de la mezquita está cubierta por láminas de oro y plata y data del periodo de Shâh Safi, sucesor de Shâh ‘Abbâs el Grande. En la mezquita hay un patio interior central rodeado de cuatro pórticos y otros dos patios secundarios laterales.

Las cúpulas son dos y están puestas una encima de otra a una distancia de 12 metros. Las inscripciones de las mezquitas fueron realizadas por afamados calígrafos de la época como Alirezâ Abbâsi, Abdul Baqi Tabrizi, Mohammad Sâleh Isfahâní y Mohammad Rezâ Emâmí.

Todos los paramentos, tanto los de los muros como las cúpulas así como las arcadas interiores y exteriores están recubiertos de azulejos y mosaicos multicolores pintados con motivos florales.

los detalles son algo semejantes a otros en marruecos pero acá hay mucho mas color, allá en estuque y acá en azulejos. muy bonita foto, nos muestra esta maravilla.
acá tenemos un día frío, pero mas al sur temperaturas negativas, menos 9 grados.

Hola Luis,
por la fecha de esta foto, veo que es un trabajo de escaneado. Creo que la foto mantiene gran parte de su calidad original, y que su nitidez nos permite seguir admirando la gran riqueza gráfica de los elementos ornamentales de esta mezquita.
El colorido y los dibujos de los azulejos y los mosaicos, y las intrincadas formas de este fantástico techo, dan una enorme potencia gráfica y cromática a tu composición.
Excelente trabajo, y un buen recuerdo de tus antiguos y magníficos viajes, como en este caso a Irán, un país que quizá ahora sea más difícil de visitar por las tensiones geopolíticas internacionales.
