Royal Tombs, a photo from Maan, South

Photographer's Note

An outdoor market selling colourful cloths outside the Royal Tombs, which are further down the hill from the Treasury Building with the semicircular theatre behind me. The Colonnaded Street lies ahead. Here's a map to get your bearings:

Chris, the royal tombs in Petra are carved in the rocky face like troglodyte houses. The sky was cloudless in the desert. That stand offers colorful cloths to the tourists. This Unesco site should be fascinating to explore. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

Hello Chris,
This is a closer view of one of the places I recently showed, but your photo is much more bright and colourful than mine, and not just because of the cloths for sale. The entire tone is so different, but I don't know which is correct. I was anxious to tone down the yellowish hues, but maybe I went too far.
Maybe these cloths provided some shade for the poor salesman. Petra in late June must have been unbearably hot.

Those tombs look amazing, the details of the stone carvings are so well and clearly captured in a bright sunlight. Good composition too, I really like the contrast with the cloths on sale in the small market stall.

Hello Chris, was someone trying to make a shelter from the hot sun? Or were they selling these lengths of fabric?
The Royal Tombs are magnificent, amazing how they were created.
Sharp quality throughout your picture. The bright blue sky is the perfect background.

Hello Chris, In miniature these tombs look similar to the tombs of the Persian kings near Persepolis. Original composition from Petra.

This really is a super shot!
The colourful cloths liven the f/g, an excellent prelude to the wonderful details of the Royal Tombs, and all set against this cloudless, blue sky.

It is a strange place to open a stall with clothes, but on the other hand there are a lot of people coming and the seller hopes to have buyers for his clothes. The ruins of Petra are of course impressive as the main subject
