Photographer's Note

Today I show you a different scene from the Nizwa cattle market. A composition made up of only men of all ages, all discussing prices and quality of animals to sell and buy.We are in Nizwa, where the interesting Livestock Market is held on Friday. It is a sort of auction, the animals are paraded through the crowd that forms a circle under the structure and who offers more, wins the animal. It is a centuries-old tradition, still very much felt and shared today.

UNA COMPOSIZIONE PIENA

Oggi vi mostro una scena differente dal mercato del bestiame di Nizwa. Una composizione fatta di soli uomini di ogni età, tutti a discutere su prezzi e qualita degli animali da vendere ed acquistare.
Il Venerdì si tiene l’interessante Mercato del Bestiame. Si tratta di una sorta di asta, gli animali vengono fatti sfilare tra la folla che forma un cerchio sotto la struttura e chi offre di piu, si aggiudica l'animale. Si tratta di una tradizione secolare, ancora oggi molto sentita e partecipata.

Ciao Caro Luciano,

This sounds very comparable with the cattle markets we have near our village, where animals are paraded in a circle and sold to the highest bidder. Of course, the farmers in my village are not dressed as these farmers, and are especially not dressed in white.

You have captured this farmers' market with exceptional clarity, considering the amount of movement that would have been happening.
You have shown a whole are range of men and the similarities in their clothing.
Though a certain amount of competition will be happening, the mood seems quite amicable.

It looks as if some youngsters are learning the trade of bidding!

A very busy photo indeed, there were many men at the market and almost all of them were standing with their backs to you. The man in grey in the middle stands out just by the fact that he seems to be walking towards us. Well captured.

Bien cadrée cette image avec ces personnes avec leur coiffes traditionnelles. La plupart vues de dos avec un homme de face, bon timing pour la prise photo, très bonne netteté et bon rendu des teintes.

Ciao Luciano, such cattle markets are a fantastic experience for the observers. I was delighted to see a very big market in Senegal. Here we do not see any animals but the crowd of visitors. I like most the view of this small boy lost among the adults. Nice caps.

Apart from the pink turban the man at far right is wearing the caps that the men are wearing initially appeared to be all identical. But a closer look revealed that each cap has its own individual pattern. Thanks for sharing.

Everyone looks surprisingly well dressed up for a cattle market. It's an interesting crowd of men and boys, and of course no women or girls. It benefits the composition that one man in the foreground is turned towards us, while the others are seen from behind. Excellently exposed and very sharp as usual.

A busy situation indeed in which the main visual attraction, for me, are the beautiful caps of different designs worn by the farmers. The man on the right sports a different kind of headgear and probably belongs to another community. Very well framed and exposed.

Luciano, the cattle market takes place like the bid. The one who offers more wins the animal. It's a pity one can not see the livestock on the picture. Almost all the characters are wearing a "djellabah" and a decorated hat. Neat image.

Honestly I like a busy compsoition shot very much and I myself took so often. Basically simple composition is favorable but I think it depends upon the case by case. This shot can be shaed so good mood and atmosphere via these classters, I think this is so tasty shot at all.

they don't seem to discuss prices, it feels more like a social gathering.
Their traditional clothes are of main interest together with the fact that there are plenty of them. They make an original repeated motif.
