High in the sky, a photo from Elazig, East Anatolia

I continue with another plane shot that might be interesting...
I found this one on my memory card... It was taken around 10mn earlier than my previous post, but I don't even really remember the time I shot it, as I was half asleep!
But after a close study of the satellite map of Turkey,I found this to be the lake created by the Keban dam on the Euphrates river. The south bank (down)in in Elazig province, while the north bank is in Tunceli province. Shot almost vertically, at 30 000ft.(10 000m)... We can see roads and houses, so maybe some Turkish friends can locate exactly the place.

Je continue avec une autre vue d'avion qui pourrait être intéressante. Je l'ai prise environ 10mn avant la précédente, mais ne me rappelle a peine l'avoir prise, jetant a moitie endormi a ce moment la. Après étude de la Turquie sur cartes satellite, j'ai identifié cet endroit comme étant le lac de rétention du barrage Keban, sur l'Euphrate. La rive sud est dans la province d'Elazig et la rive nord est la province de Tunceli. Pris presque verticalement depuis une altitude de 10 000m(30 000pds.)

Wow, very google earth-like. I love seeing the world from above. A beautiful patchwork of colour and texture has unfolded under you. Great sharpness and quality in detail for an airliner shot - not a cloud to disturb it! Good work.

This look just a map. The landscape below look very well organized with the lake taking a nice area of the land. Good idea for a picture from such high altitude. The colour of the water also create a nice contrast to the mainly brownish land. Thanks Laurent.

Je suis bluffé par la qualité de cette image à travers un hublot. A moins que tu ne voyage en dirigeable bien sur ! Sans déconner c'est une superbe image qui nous permet de découvrir des endroits inconnus.

Again, I'm impressed with the quality of the image and your work in finding the location of this place. It reminds me the graphical photos of Yann Arthus-Bertrand, 'world seen fom above'. The resulted pattern is quite interesting.

Cartographie en relief du plus bel effet. Pour quelqu'un qui était encore ensommeillé, le résultat est particulièrement réussi. De plus, prendre une photo à travers un hublot n'est jamais facile.
La définition générale est étonnante.

Ces images prisent à la verticale depuis un POV élevé sont toujours impressionantes, et celle-ci ne déroge pas à la règle, avec des détails superbes sur le sol, et un déciupage des côtes très beau.

Même à moitié endormi tu as réussi à faire une superbe prise de vue depuis les hauteurs. C'est clair et bien détaillé et l'on peut voir nettement le découpages des côtes, les parcelles des champs...et le magnifique lac bleu...

C’est vrai que pour obtenir cette vue, tu devais être en position plutôt verticale, au moment où l’avion effectuait un virage... C’est saisissant!

On ne pourra jamais te reprocher de ne pas avoir compris la mission de ce site, et ce genre de photo contribue précisément à nous faire découvrir le monde, d’un point de vue unique.

Une photo turque comme on n’a pas l’habitude d’en voir.

This is another very nice shot out of the window, although I prefer the previous be far. Excellent view with all the colored fields, houses, rivers and finally that marvelous turquoise sea. This post would certainly fit with the title of "Flight with a view".

Trés jolie vue aérienne à haute altitude, c'est presque une vue satellite. Il y a à la fois de jolis reliefs et cette étendue d'eau verte, une vrai carte de géographie.

cette photo depuis un avion est fantastique, son angle vertical nous donne une image plate de ce paysage tandis que la lumière nous permet de voir tout son relief.
L'eau du réservoir avec la couleur verte donne un joli contraste avec la couleur de la terre.
Une photo très spéciale et bien faite.

One of the finest aerial hots I have seen, with the vertical look, this looks more like one of the Google earth satellite images but with a lot better clarity and sharpness, amazing really from that height. Must have been a very clear day.
