Another post from the same Yakutiye Medresseh in Erzurum, where I encoutered a man who was very proud of his white beard and kept combing it with his hand: The carvings with birds and lions in the background belong to a big panel which embraces the main entrance.

Hello Izzet. A delightul portrait taken in excellent light. The shallow DOF is very effective in highlighting this old character with his wry smile and his pride. The composition is very simple, which allows the subject to draw the viewer's full attention. What a beard!

Wonderful portrait! The beard is indeed the star of the show, and a fine example it is. I like the expression too, and the slightly blurred background does a good job of isolating the subject. Well done!

Izzet I have to say I am usually quite surprised at what kind of photo you come up with to share. You most certainly excel at sharing captures of people, and this one is so full of expression and life itself. Truly a refreshing frame to enjoy and yes his beard does look well tended to. Merhaba,
I kept coming back to this image everytime I was viewing my favorite photographers. I must admit that his eyes and smile have grown on me, perhaps more than the beard. Looks like a devious character, ready to poke a joke at you. I also noticed the carvings in the back, a nice reflection of the Ilhanli architecture (if I'm not mistaken). Regards,

Izzet, c'est un excellent portrait. J'aime ce regard et ce sourire qui en disent beaucoup sur la personnalité de cet homme.
Le portrait est un art à part entière et il faut sympathiser avec la personne pour en arriver à cette vérité.

What a wonderful portrait and what a fantastic figure, all straight up. Yes, he really seems proud of his beard. I know that you intended to include the whole carvings in the background, but I would consider to crop a bit on the top.
