Photographer's Note

Somewhere in the desert between Marib and Sey'un we stopped for tea. Mid-morning, it was already hot, but the restaurant was pleasant, being mostly open-air to capture any breeze, with a roof for shade, and the walls painted a light blue for extra coolness.

Some boys came running to look at us - and soon were bored. We were doing exactly as the locals do: take off our shoes, sit on the floor on the mats, quietly sip our tea. They still hung around, obviously having nothing more interesting to do...
