Photographer's Note
Still a few to come, this is my fourth photo of this short serie, this time at the end of the day and about this famous roof, we can see about 70% of the "O" shape. I've included a part of the story below about the roof.
Other photos :
1. first photo The big "O" view from the southshore of Montreal
2. Second photo The tower
3. Third photo The silhouette
This is an assembly of tree photos because it was not possible to have a clean view of each side, this is from the small windows that we can see in the second photo, Directly above the roof.
Built for the 1976 Olympic Games, Montreal's Olympic Stadium was one of the first sports stadiums to be capped with a plastic dome roof. But it wasn't an immediate success. In fact, the stadium was only partially completed before Montreal hosted the Olympic Summer Games. After the Olympics, the Quebec government attempted to finish the structure, but cost overruns and unsolved engineering problems stopped the project in its tracks.
Most of the problems stemmed from the retractable roof system and its mast, a 556-foot leaning tower adjacent to the structure. In 1986, engineers were forced to change its structural system from concrete to steel after a study showed that the tower would be too heavy if completed in concrete. In 1987, engineers finally capped the stadium with 60,696 square feet of orange and silver Kevlar fabric, a synthetic fiber used in some bulletproof vests. Hoisted by 26 steel cables, the enormous fabric roof was supposed to fold into the adjacent leaning tower, much like a giant umbrella -- but it didn't. From mechanical failure to rips and tears, the Kevlar membrane roof cost $700,000 in annual upkeep.
The roof of Montreal's Olympic Stadium remained permanently closed for several seasons. Finally, by the spring of 1998, the problematic orange Kevlar roof was replaced with a $26 million nonretractable, opaque blue Teflon-coated Fiberglas fabric. All told, Montreal's Olympic Stadium cost more than a whopping $1 billion to build.
Hope you enjoy ! Thanks for your comments and critiques,
Next time a view of Montreal from the deck, a 90° up rotation from this view.

Another very interesting photo. Your composition makes this very strong. I like how you've captured the cables and texture here, Pierre.

Bonjour Pierre
Excellent detailed note, & a very different & interesting pov. I like the repetitive geometric patterns & shapes. Tres bon!

Great note Pierre, and special roof, the architecture of the roof have been very nicely done, but not this way easy carry out, the angle form, and three angles make the roof however, very special.
Everything sharp and clear Pierre!

Wonderful graphical look, captured from a very effective angle, Pierre! All the lines, shapes and various details form an amazing composition, together with the tiny line of lights at left. Very well done indeed! Thank you for the good note too!

Amazing POV, Pierre, looking straight down. Perfect stitching considering it's shot through three different windows. Brilliant sharpness - so I would have liked it as a large posting, I think it has the potential for that. There are so many details in and around the roof I'd like to have had a better view of. You've captured a nice soft light, just hinting the shadows in the roof and colors look nice too. Great job, very well done!
Am I right in understanding that the roof never will be retracted in the future? That the cables are there only to support the roof?

Interesting graphism. You have a knack for graphic compo such as this. Your POV indeed allows you to take this good photo.

Bonne compo avec ce que j'appellerai une tombée grace au filins;
Bon choix
