Photographer's Note
Earlier this year I had the opportunity to visit North Vancouver for a day off and simply take in the scenery with my camera. Along the North Shore boardwalk I saw these 3 inch illuminated saucers on the walkway. This made me curious about their origin and reason for their existence. The saucers are secured on steel checker plate which is the bed of the walkway. To this day I am still curious about these saucers. I think they serve as some kind of sensor. Any suggestions? Hope you enjoy the ground view.

Hi Paul
i've been to this area myself, and i've seen the same UFO. As for its purpose, its a mystery. Perhaps its simply artistic and for design, for safety?
nonetheless, it will make its way to the X-Files.
The super wide angle and DOF is really great here, the famous van cityscape is also clearly seen in the background. Even better, is the Harbour centre is seen between the womens arm and the lampost!
your creativity is what made this scene work!
great one
have a relaxed day

Hi Paul
Beats me as well. I thought at first they were man hole covers. But I have never seen ones like that before. Or maybe they are fancy lane dividers.
Great perspective of these "UFO" covers and of the boardwalk anyways. Let me know if you find out what they are.
Have a great night,

Hi Paul
An interesting POV and an interesting subject. The focus on the UFO is a little soft but it makes for an unusual image. I have no idea what they their function is but perhaps a sensor as you say.

Hello Paul,
I like this unusual subject and POV. It is always interesting to find everyday objects that stand out in some way. The blue lights are certainly futuristic. Maybe you are right...perhaps these really are tiny UFO's, with tiny aliens living inside them. They found the perfect way to hide in plain sight without anyone knowing they are there. Excuse my crazy theory, but I studied a lot of surrealist literature in the past. ;-)

Most UFO's are seen in the sky- but it looks like you managed one of the few shots of one landed Paul! I have to admit, it's not nearly as bnig as I thought it would be. I have to wonder how big the aliens are that were flying it! ;-)
I like your perspective with the low angle allowing for views of the rest of the boardwalk and beautiful Vancouver in the background.
Nice work Paul,
- Dan
