Cooking Frijoles, a photo from Puebla, Central Highlands

Photographer's Note

I took this photograph in the upstairs kitchen of the clinic where I volunteered for several days. A group of women and their young children were cooking all day for the staff, members of their church, the patients or anyone else who got hungry.

When I took this photograph the women were cooking many types of frijoles(beans).

Hi Elizabeth. A nice environmental portrait of the friendly woman in the kitchen; very nice to see the steam emerge from the pot and a good array of colorful details present in this scene. I don't mind the "posed" look a lot, but I think a more candid version of this, for example when she would be stirring the contents of the pot, might also be an interesting variant.
