The grotto was discovered by Mr. Miguel Lobato Apple tree, of accidental way. When remaining practically without water, he decided to look for the source. It followed the channel of the stream and found the tunnel by which it left the water the interior of the mount, and that one was its first obstacle because it was a very close passage. It was in charge to extend it and advanced slowly, until he was with a second obstacle: a cascade of seven meters of height. It managed to raise the cascade and it continued advancing: the 19 of March of 1919 discover the main vault.
The grotto is composed by a main vault surrounded by 5 halls. The entrance is a wide opening of 1 m of and 1,80 ms of height in average, with a length of 50 ms, of which about 20 ms are walked on a stream of half meter of depth.
